After price hike of petrol, prices of many essential items and service are on the rise. Therefore, supermarkets and trade centers have made greater efforts to negotiate with suppliers and approach preferential loans to share difficulties with customers.
Prices of items on the rise
At some markets in Thu Dau Mot and Thuan An towns, retail prices of most of food items, cosmetics are on the rise. Pork price surges VND10,000-15,000 per kg, chicken meat increases VND5,000/kg… whilst prices of vegetables of increase VND2,000/kg. San Miguel Pure Food Ltd announced its 5-10% price hike on April 1 whilst Vinamilk’s products also jumped 5% in early this month.

From early this month, Mai Linh Corp’s transport fees surged from VND14,000/km to VND15,000/km. Besides, processed food of Vissan Company jumped 10-2-% compared to March.
At present, fresh food is in the lead of price hike. Price of tiger prawn jumps to VND30,000/kg whilst sea fish increases VND20,000/kg.
Supermarkets curb price hike
Meanwhile, supermarkets and trade centers have offered abundant goods sources with stable prices, thanks to price stability program of the State. However, amid price hike of materials, adjustment of price increase is inevitable.
Co.opmart Binh Duong Vo Huu Thach, said in the middle of April, prices of food, cosmetics, beverage, milk at supermarkets will be adjusted to increase 10-15% whilst prices of some imported items will jump up to 20%. At present, Co.opmart has made efforts to negotiate with suppliers to curb price hike as well as to offer promotional programs to share difficulties with customers. Besides, adjustment of price will be implemented for every group of item.
Vinatex Binh Duong vice director Le Hong Phuong, said prices of some items at the mart surged 10%. To improve this status, the mart has launched essential procedures to enjoy preferential loans from the State to purchase goods with a proper price level. This will help stabilize selling prices, said Phuong.
