Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee yesterday presided over a meeting to review the five-year implementation of the rural traffic and urban rejuvenation movement. Reportedly, the province over the past five years made great efforts in rural traffic construction, contributing to reshaping the local urban image.
Rural traffic infrastructure improved
After being re-established, the province has always paid attention to the rural traffic and urban rejuvenation movement. The movement has helped the local traffic infrastructure be improved gradually.

The Directive No.07/CT-UBND issued by provincial People’s Committee on launching the rural traffic and urban rejuvenation movement with the motto of “the State and people work together” is seen as an important premise for the province to become one of the country’s bright spots in the movement.
Thanks to right orientations by provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, the movement has so far reached in-depth development, creating a driving force for the locality to continue developing and becoming an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors.
In the 2010-2014 period, the province strived to successfully work out 2,102 works on rural traffic and urban rejuvenation with a total length of over 1.2 million kilometers. Around VND1.53trillion in capital was mobilized to carry out the above works
Noticeably, consensus among people from all strata was considered as a great success of the local rural traffic and urban rejuvenation. They contributed land, money and many other works valued at more than VND211bln to making the movement over the past five years.
Strong investment in urban rejuvenation
The evolution of the rural traffic and urban rejuvenation movement has contributing to reshaping the image of Binh Duong, helping it become one of the whole country’s localities with robust growth in terms of traffic infrastructure.
So far, Binh Duong has had a synchronized traffic infrastructure system with strong changes and encouraging results. The robust evolution of the rural traffic and urban rejuvenation movement has helped the locality narrow the gap between rural and urban areas while creating favorable conditions for the local goods transportation and synchronous economic development.
Addressing the meeting, representative of provincial Department of Transport said that the province well realized all targets set in the movement over the past time, but there were still some shortcomings relating to site clearance for change.
Binh Duong’s urbanization process is now on rapid development. Hence, the local urban rejuvenation work will face great challenges arising from this. Mr.Liem said: “The province’s 4 districts, including Tan Uyen, Ben Cat, Thuan An and Di An, have been upgraded into towns and 12 communes have also become wards. This is seen as a necessary step in developing Binh Duong into a centrally-controlled municipality, but brings a great challenge to the movement. In the past, we were very successful in urban rejuvenation work and now we must implement it with all efforts…”.
