Developing farms

Nguyen Chau Long, chairman of Tam Lap commune said that over the past years the commune economy has been developed strongly, thanks to agricultural industry, especially rubber tree growing. The entire commune now has 180 breeding farms, rubber, orange and tangerine plantations.

In the year of 2014, the commune reaches an economic growth of 10%, 9% of which is from agricultural production; agricultural economy structure accounts for 78%; trade and service 16%; handicraft 6%; average income of VND24mil per capita per year and more.

Over the past time, Tam Lap commune attracts people from other localities to invest in breeding farms. Meanwhile, in the recent 2 years, strong decline of rubber latex price makes rubber growers encounter many difficulties, so many people shift to work for local farms. In reality, Tam Lap commune now has 30 pig and chicken farms winning high results while other 10 farmsteads are under preparation for investment and one co-operative cooperates with CP Company to raise 6,000 pigs.

Local development of breeding farms helps solve jobs and create stable income for local residents. Viet Thinh chicken farm in Dong Tam hamlet is one of effective farms in Tam Lap commune. Nguyen Viet Anh, manager of Viet Thinh farm said that the farm now raises 90,000 chickens for eggs. His farm in cooperation with EMIVES Company enjoys technical support from the company. On average, this farm produces 115,000-400,000 eggs every two days with the fixed price of VND1,540 per egg. This farm places jobs for about 20 people with the income of VND4-5mil per capita per month.

Efforts for building new rural areas

Nguyen Chau Long said that the commune is homes to Stieng, San Chi and Khmer ethnic minority groups. When local authority launches the movement of new rural building, local farmers respond this movement positively. Therefore, until now Tam Lap commune implements 15 out of 19 criteria of new rural building.

As the set roadmap, Tam Lap commune will basically complete the national goal program of new rural building. At present, the commune has to complete 4 more criteria of cultural material, environment, healthcare and traffic network. According to Tam Lap commune leaders, in order to increase income for local people, the local administration will in the coming time continue to implement supportive programs for farmers such as capital assistance, training classes on rubber latex tapping, sewing, safe vegetable planting, mushroom planting, bonsai growing and more.

“Despite of difficulties, Tam Lap commune party committee, authority and people determine to fulfill the new rural building program by the end of 2015”, Long affirms.
