Strong investment attraction
The town’s industrial production value in Q1, 2018 was estimated at more than VND3.88billion, up 10.8% compared to the same period last year. Of these, the domestic investment sector reached more than VND1.23trillion while the foreign investment sector achieved more than VND2.6trillion.

A glance of Tan Uyen today
Provincial People’s Committee also granted investment licenses to 8 domestic enterprises and 11 FDI ones in the town. So far, the whole town has absorbed 895 domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of more than VND9.26trillion and 546 FDI ones with US$3.65million.
The town is now home to 2 industrial parks and 3 industrial compounds, namely South Tan Uyen Industrial Park, Tan Uyen Urban-Industrial Park, Uyen Hung Service-Industrial Park, Phu Chanh Industrial Compound…, with a total area of 1,900 hectares. Thanks to measures in investment attraction implemented in a synchronous way, the rate of land tenancy at town-based industrial parks and compounds has reached over 65%.
Also in Q1, 2018, the town bent on developing hi-quality services in association with urban and industrial development towards modernity and civilization. Many hi-quality services on banking, post-telecommunications, trading, logistics…gained diverse and vigorous development. The town’s power and water system also well met people’s demand…
In the coming time, the town will continue well realizing investment attraction; arrange investment projects in line with the local urban-industrial development and ensure the good implementation of regulations.
Towards a civilized and modern city
One of important contents in the Resolution of the town’s Party Committee congress for the 2015-2020 tenure is to develop the town into a third-class city by 2020.
Accordingly, the town will focus on promoting hi-class services in association with urban-industrial development towards added value increase, civilization and modernity; mobilize all resources to further invest in a synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure system; especially tap advantages from the south key economic zone’s infrastructure at a maximum way.
Along with completing planning for communes and wards in line with the local urban development process, the town will focus on mobilizing all resources to realize criteria of a third-class city. In addition to 4 inter-provincial streets, namely DT742, DT746, DT747A and DT747B, with a total strength of 65.25 km, 25 district-level streets of 124.4 km, 194 regional streets of around 204.4km, the town has also paid attention to fostering traffic systems in industrial parks and compounds.
In terms of housing area, the whole town has till now reached 25.1 square meters per person. The rate of solid waste collected and treated has been 90.1%. There have also been 100% of households in use of clean water and national power grid… Thus, the town has basically reached standards of a third-class city with 87.99 points.
Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of Tan Uyen town’s People’s Committee said that the town is completing documents of being recognized as a third-class city in order to submit them to the Government for approval. The town will give priority to perfecting criteria of a third-class city in 2018 and in the following years while upgrading these criteria in order to be recognized as a second-class city by 2020. Besides, the town will concentrate on technical infrastructure investment; attach special importance to urban rejuvenation towards modernity…
Possibly speaking, being recognized as a third-class city will create opportunities for the town to uphold the local potential for economic development in the new period.
