Tan Uyen District on development road – obstacles to be cleared out

Committee for Economics of People’s Council just held a session on inspection of socio-economic status in Tan Uyen District where potential development is available along side with obstacles.

 

Continual development

 

In the past 9 months of the year, socio-economic development in Tan Uyen District is maintained with increases. Five of seven objectives are met with complete industrial park infrastructure and minimized environment pollution. Production value of plants and husbandry has increased thanks to highly widespread of economic effective models. Infrastructure is rapidly invested and put into practice to serve people’s live hood and socio-economic development of localities. Budget collection is stable with highly managed earning of the district. Targets in terms of social security have been reached and over passed resolutions proposed by People’s Council.

 

Obstacles remain

 

The outstanding problem is that some collections of budget are still low but budget payment exceeds the projection. In explaining these issues, Tan Uyen District People’s Committee claimed that the budget allocation has shown some problems together with other payments to business costs.

 

“There are 69 households in 7 hamlets and town lets are to be re-settle, causing risks of erosion along river banks. Up to date, 64 households have been re-settled,” reported leader of district’s Economics Office. The rest households are facing risks while supports are only limited.

“Illegal and excessive mineral exploitation negatively affects socio-economic infrastructure by causing erosion and damages to roads as well as environment. The district authority should plan to overcome this,” said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ha – Chief of Economics Office.

 

Locally, there are 23 establishments are licensed to exploit mineral; however, the inspection has discovered wrong doings in land leasing procedures which ignored compensation to the public. In September, functional agencies in the district has inspected and processed 18 cases of illegal mineral exploitation and 29 other cases of illegal mineral transportation. Punishment has accounted for over VND 596 million with 311 cubic meters of sand and 25 cubic meters of clay confiscated. However, inspection failed to reach illegal sand sucking on river.

 

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ha concluded that despite difficulties, Tan Uyen district has been invested well by the province. As the matter of fact, obstacles should firstly be removed to make use of natural conditions for sustainable development. This will require general efforts of leaders.
