Since early this year, Tan Uyen town’s economy has continued reaching high growth. This will be a motivation for the town to become a third-class city by 2020.
High economic growth
Tan Uyen town since early this year has implemented many solutions effectively. This has helped the town obtain important results. Particularly, the town’s value of industrial manufacture and construction was estimated at more than VND13.4billion, up 11.95%; agro-forestry and fisheries production value at VND422billion, up 1.32% compared to the same period of last year.

A glance of Tan Uyen town
The town is now home to 2 industrial parks (IPs) and 3 industrial compounds (ICs) of around 1,900 hectares with the rate of land tenancy at 64.9%. They have so far absorbed 362 businesses, comprising of 112 domestic businesses capitalized at more than VND3.26trillion and 250 foreign ones totaling more than US$5billion, with considerable contributions to State budget. In the first nine months of 2017, the town’s State budget collection reached more than VND1.16trillion or 103% of the province’s yearly estimates.
Ngo Quang Su, Vice-Chairman of Tan Uyen town’s People’s Committee said that town-based investment projects have been arranged in IPs and ICs with perfectly-built infrastructure, in North Tan Uyen IP, Tan Uyen Industrial-Urban Park, Tan Hiep IC…The town-based projects on industrial production have complied with provincial People’s Committee’s regulation on business scopes, minimizing environmental pollution and being in line with the local land use plan.
Along with its economic development process, the town has strengthened socialization in terms of education, health and culture-sports. The town since early this year has supplemented VND17billion for the sector of education-training to upgrade, build additional classrooms and toilets at schools, basically meeting the local pupils’ demand for learning in the new academic year.
Towards a civilized and modern city
One of major tasks put forward in the Resolution of Tan Uyen town’s Party Congress for the 2015-2020 is to develop the town into a third-class city by 2020. Accordingly, the town will bend on fostering hi-class services in association with industrial-urban development towards added value increase, civilization and modernity; mobilize all resources from economic sectors to further develop a modern and synchronous socio-economic structure system; especially associate and tap advantages from the southern key economic zone’s socio-economic infrastructure facilities…
Together with focusing on developing Uyen Hung ward at civilized urban standards in 2018 and into a third-class city by 2020, Tan Uyen town will further make investment in the remaining wards towards civilized and modern development. The town will also concentrate on improving the quality of new-style rural construction criteria in Bach Dang and Thanh Hoi communes; strive to turn Hoi Nghia, Phu Chanh, Vinh Tan and Tan Vinh Hiep communes into wards by 2020; attach special importance to enhancing the quality of people’s life, repulse social evils, preserve and develop the local cultural values; ensure socio-economic development in association with national defence-security maintained.
As planned, the town will carry out great projects on traffic, urban residential areas and many other public works in order to constantly perfect the local socio-technological infrastructure system, contributing to improving the quality of people’s life. The town will give priority to promote services in association with industrial and urban development towards added value increase, civilization and modernity; expand North Tan Uyen IP, rejuvenate industrial production areas, zone markets, supermarkets and plazas; make planning and development on ecological tourism development for Rua and Bach Dang isles; promote agricultural products with hi-economic efficiency…
With the efforts by the local government and people, the town’s breakthrough investment program on urban infrastructure has obtained good results. Recognizing Tan Uyen as a third-class city will create a chance for the locality to uphold potential and promote economic development.
