Forming a new urban space
Tan Uyen town at the present has many new changes. The most visible thing is that inner town roads had been upgraded with asphalt and concrete, drainage systems and sidewalks had been paved, many trees had been planted to create open, nice clean streets. The town has six communes achieving new rural standards with many asphalt concreted rural roads. Besides, the infrastructure investment, urban renovation has gradually formed a new face of Tan Uyen. Mr Phan Van Hung living in Uyen Hung ward said: “I realized the town appearance had changed a lot; roads are upgraded, people’s trading is more crowded. Many traffic projects of the town have opened a new urban space being convenient for traffic”.
The town also achieved high and stable economic growth, economic structure has shift in the right direction. There are 2 industrial parks, 3 industrial clusters with a total area of 1,900 ha in the town. So far, the town has over 976 licensed investment projects; 648 enterprises in operations specialized in construction materials production, agro – forest product processing, civil carpentry, animal food… contributing largely to the town’s per capita income of VND43.4 million I 2015.
In urban development, the ratio of asphalted roads in the town is over 98%, concreted roads 100%. Key traffic projects, such as roads DT746, 747A, 747B ... have created an important connection to serve local development process. 100% households are covered by power grids, telecommunications infrastructure. Residential – trade centers have emerged in town to serve people’s needs.
To soon become a type-3 city
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Mai, Chairwoman of Tan Uyen town People’s Committee, said the town had put more effort into building synchronous infrastructure, developing Uyen Hung ward a locality meeting urban civilization criteria in order to orient, mobilize resources for constructing Tan Uyen as a type-3 city till 2018 according to provincial urban development orientation. The town has invested in infrastructure systems, transportation systems, calling for investments in industrial – trade sector to step by step complete criteria of a type-3 city.
According to the master plan for socio-economic development in districts, towns, cities by 2025, Tan Uyen town would become an urban – industrial – service center and contribute significantly to provincial economic growth. The overall objective of Tan Uyen town socio-economic development plan by 2025 is to develop industrial sector combined with services, urban and residential areas as planned; apply scientific technical advancements into manufacture to generate high quality goods; industrialize and modernize rural areas towards high-tech agriculture. According to the master plan, the industrial production value in 2016-2020 and 2021-2025 period of Tan Uyen town would increase 11-13%/year. Total turnover of retail and service sales in 2016-2020 would increase 18-19%/year; agricultural production value in 2021- 2025 period would increase1-2%; budget revenue in 2016-2020 would increase15%/year. Per capita income in 2025 of the town would reach VND145-150 million/year; the town would basically escape from poverty according to provincial criteria in 2020. Trained workers ratio by 2020 would reach 80%, and by 2025 would reach 90%...
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Mai, despite its young age, Tan Uyen town has gradually confirmed its position and utilized its potentials for the growth. By these efforts, in the coming years, the town will continue to obtain new achievements, become an important economic zone and a new urban dynamic modern city of Binh Duong.
Currently, the urban space in Tan Uyen has been developed as type-4 city in accordance with South Tan Uyen region development planning. In addition, the town will expand industrial- urban space; establish industrial zones, clusters, residential areas to facilitate the development of technical infrastructure, create a link between urban and manufacture zones. Ecotourism spaces have been planned in wards and communes along Dong Nai River, like: Bach Dang, Thanh Hoi; Green Eye resort, Han Tam Dang, Mekong Golf & Villas… are also under construction.
