TDM city has focused on fostering civilized and modern urban areas, simultaneously paid special importance to building houses at residents’ demand. This has greatly contributed to reshaping the city’s urban image, improving residents’ lives.
New houses, urban areas
TDM is one of cities with fast growing speed in the southern key economic zone. Along with other cities like My Tho, Bien Hoa and Vung Tau, TDM city has strongly risen up and become one of top destinations for thousands of young laborers across the country. Thanks to incentive policies, the city has absorbed more and more laborers. This has made the local demand for housing get increasing.
From a small city with poor infrastructure, Thu Dau Mot (TDM) was recognized as a third-class city in 2007. Till 2014, TDM city met standards of a second-class city and is making efforts to become a central city of the first-class Binh Duong city under the central control by 2020. During the local construction and development process, leaders of TDM city have always attached special importance to building houses for people from all strata. Developing solid houses and green-clean-nice new urban areas has not only helped stabilize the local social welfare, but also contributed to reshaping and perfecting Binh Duong city in the near future.

During the local urban development process, TDM city has always created advantageous conditions for people to develop their houses while paying attention to construction from houses in residential estates to public works in a synchronous way with modern style in line with a common architectural trend of a young city. So far, the rate of the city’s solid and semi-solid houses has reached 89%. The city’s total housing floor area has reached more than 6mln square meters with the average floor-space per person of 17.17 square meters.
One of TDM city’s great successes is to build new urban-residential areas in a synchronous and modern way. Accordingly, the city has carried out 21 projects, contributing to satisfying residents’ demand for housing. Some projects, including Hiep Thanh residential areas 1, 2 and 3, Chanh Nghia resettlement area, Phu Hoa residential area 2, Phu Chanh, Phu My residential areas…, have been fulfilled and put into operation.
Bright spot from social housing projects
TDM has been oriented as a central city corresponding to the regional scale. It is also under provincial Industry-Service-Urban complex of 1,000 hectares invested by Becamex IDC.
Till now, thousands of specious houses have been built across the city at residents’ demand for housing. The complex has also basically fulfilled its technological infrastructure together with some key works. Thanks to having well-built infrastructure plus sound orientations by leaders of provincial People’s Committee and TDM city, the complex has been very attractive to investors at home and abroad.
TDM city is now home to 36 ecological, urban, trading and service development projects of between 20-50 hectares with socio-technological infrastructure basically fulfilled in accordance with criteria of the first-class city. They have not only contributed to bringing TDM a new and modern urban image, but also ensured residents’ demand for housing.
In 2011, provincial Party Committee put forward the Program on province’s social housing development in the 2011-2015 period. Under the program’s goal, the province will build around 1.75 mln square meters of social housing floor area to supply accommodations for around 175,000 residents. Provincial People’s Committee also issued the Plan No.1866/KH-UBND dated July 5, 2012 on province’s social housing development in the 2012 and 2015 period. Accordingly, Becamex IDC has set up a project building 37 social housing areas with 1.3mln square meters in total. With a total investment of more than VND10trillion, the project will build around 64,707 apartments with 30 square meters and above each, supplying accommodations for around 167,000 people living in TDM city, Thuan An town and 2 then districts of Ben Cat, Tan Uyen.
Becamex IDC has so far built 4 social housing areas in TDM city. Noticeably, Hoa Loi social housing area includes 2,467 apartments for around 6,025 residents. This is seen as a great success of TDM city in building houses for residents, contributing to building up a civilized and modern city.
