Thanks to taking full advantage of the local strong points along with sound orientation policies, TDM city continued reaching stable growth over the past eight months.
Upholding existing potential
In the first half of 2018, the city’s industrial production value was estimated at more than VND10.7trillion. The city is now home to 7 industrial parks (Ips), namely Song Than 3, Phu Tan, Kim Huy, Dai Dang, Vietnam-Singapore 2, Dong An, Mappletree Binh Duong, with hundreds of domestic and foreign projects, contributing to creating jobs for tens of thousands of laborers.

The proportion of trade-service accounts for nearly 61% of the city’s economic structure. The birth of Ips has contributed to promoting the local trade-service sector with the participation of economic sectors. Possibly seeing, the city now has a lot of trade-service facilities, not only creating a breakthrough for the local development, but also meeting locals’ demand for shopping.
The city is now home to 4 trade centers, 5 supermarkets and 13 markets in operation together with flexible non-State trade facilities. In the first half of 2016, the city’s retail sales revenue of commodities and services was more than VND58.5billion, up 28% compared to the same period or 47.4% of the year’s plan. The city is planning to build and upgrade some markets, namely Thu Dau Mot, Phu Hoa…, better meeting locals’ demand.

The city’s agricultural sector also reached considerable changes over the past time. Currently, the city is home to specialized areas on safe cultivation and animal husbandry. The city has also paid attention to developing orchards at demand for ecotourism.
In terms of collective economy, the whole city now has a total of 39 cooperatives, 11 cooperative groups and 38 linkage groups. Over the past time, the city’s collective economic sector took full advantage of forces, surmounted difficulties and improved the quality of service products, actively contributing to the local urbanization target.
Serving long-term development
With achievements done over the past time, TDM city will further enjoy advantages in socio-economic development in the coming time. But, in order to continue being the engine of the province’s socio-economic development, the city needs to soon redress shortcomings on the quality of trade-service sector, investment projects under the socialization formula…for change.
As oriented, the city’s economic structure from now till 2020 is 60.89%, 39.07% and 0.04% in service, industry and agriculture, respectively. Accordingly, the city will team up with the province’s sectors and departments to boost investment projects under the socialization formula; continue calling for investors to build some markets, namely Thu Dau Mot, Hang Bong and Binh Diem, under the civilized and modern trend.
Bui Minh Thanh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of TDM city’s Party Committee said that the goal of the city for the period of 2016-2020 is to develop TDM under the urban-service model with hi-quality services, improving the quality of economic growth and infrastructure facilities towards sustainable development. Along with well implementing service projects for industrial production, residential and resettlement areas, the city will further create favorable conditions for enterprises and locals to expand production models.
The city will also associate industrial development with environmental protection towards sustainable development; continue developing traditional craft villages, auxiliary industries…
