Thanh An commune in Dau Tieng district has created a new image after three years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction. So far, Thanh An commune has fulfilled criteria of a new rural commune.

till now met all 19 criteria of the National Target Program on New Rural
Construction. The new rural image of the commune has easily been seen through
the development of cultural institutions. 
Thanh An commune’s Cultural Center has just been built
The commune now has a 720sq.m-cultural house with capacity of 300 people and total expense of more than VND2.5bln. The 731sq.m-office of the commune’s cultural house with many items has just been fulfilled with total expense of more than VND5.3bln, contributing to serving the spiritual life of the local people.
The commune has also used 15,360 sq.m of land for sports field with football ground, volleyball ground…equipped with lighting system for competition at night. In addition, the commune has built hamlet-level cultural houses to serve meetings and community activities of the local people.
Along with cultural institutions, the commune’s rural traffic and irrigation systems have been perfected. So far, the whole commune has spent VND68.3bln on strengthening 88 rural roads with total length of 44.84km. There are also 2 irrigation works with total capacity that is designed to serve 158 hectares of farming land.
Lesson from people’s strength
Thanh An commune is the province’s first locality to fulfill all 19 criteria of new rural construction. This is seen as an enjoyable phenomenon.
Duong Van Nhan, Vice-Chairman of Thanh An communal People’s Committee said that the above result has not only come from the sound leadership of the local authorities at all levels, but also from the strength of the local people and a high consensus between them and the local authorities at all levels.
If there was no volunteer among the local people, it was very difficult for the commune to carry out criteria on rural road system, income, environmental hygiene…Thanks to the efforts by each individual, collective, many emulation movements in production and business were always promoted over the past time, bringing the local people a good source of income. The average income per capital of the local people is now around VND27.3mln. Meanwhile, the whole commune only has 38 poor households.
Also thanks to the strength of the local people, many rural roads in Thanh An commune were quickly completed over the past time. Hundreds of the local households voluntarily contributed their land and working days to building the local rural roads. So far, environmental protection has strictly been observed to ensure a safe and clean living environment.
It is known that the commune has sped up dissemination of information about the new rural construction program via many forms, helping reaching a high consensus between the local authorities and people. This has seen as one of favorable elements helping the commune successfully make this program.
Possibly speaking, the new rural construction program has basically created a new rural image for Thanh An commune. This success will be a firm foundation for people in Thanh An in particular and those in Binh Duong in general to pin their faith on the significance National Target Program.
