From a solid foundation when being recognized as a new-style rural commune in 2013, Thanh An commune in Dau Tieng district continued perfecting advanced criteria of the new-style rural construction program and it was also recognized as an advanced new-style rural commune in 2019.
Solid foundation
Over the past years, Thanh An commune brought into full play its potential for economic development. The new-style rural construction program helped the socio-economic lives of the local people get thriving. In 2012, the average income of the local people was VND22million per person. The figure has so far reached more than VND56million per person.

The rate of schools in the commune with material facilities and learning equipment at national standards is increasing
The whole commune has till now had more than 109 km of rural roads. In the 2014-2019 period, the commune carried out 40 works on rural traffic with total investment of nearly VND31billion. Among them, 1 work was built by the province with VND3.9billion while 4 and 23 works were constructed by the district and the commune with VND2.48billion and more than VND15.44billion, respectively. Thanh An rubber plantation and enterprises in the commune also built 3 works with total investment of more than VND4.69billion. In addition, the local people contributed VND796.2million to building 9 works; took part in donating land, crop plants…worth nearly VND3.3billion to the locality for making rural roads.
It is known that the local people mainly earn their living by growing rice, fruit and rubber trees. The whole commune has a total area of 5,856 hectares, including 5,072 hectare of farming land or 86.6% of total. There is also Can Nom lake with a total area of 250 hectares, ensuring irrigation for the local agricultural production. The local economic structure is now 34% in industrial manufacture, 43.7% in agricultural production and 22.3% in services.
Benefitting from new-style rural construction
In 2013, Thanh An was recognized a new-style rural commune and then continued being selected as a pilot locality for advanced new-style rural construction. Hence, the commune continued boosting propaganda work; focused on infrastructure construction; improved the leadership role of the Party, government and political-social organizations, especially leaders in the local advanced new-style rural construction.
Nguyen Thanh Du, Chairman of Thanh An communal People’s Committee said that after being recognized as a news-style rural commune, Thanh An has constantly improved the lives of locals and the local image. Particularly, the commune paid more attention to infrastructure construction; replicated effective agricultural models; gave vocational training for laborers, created jobs for them; maintained the local security, social order. The commune also mobilized the local people to make the shift of the plant and animal structure towards high economic value.
After five years of enhancing the quality of new-style rural construction criteria, the rural image and people’s lives of Thanh An commune have continued reaching changes with an infrastructure system built more perfectly, a green-clean-nice living environment... The local people have actively built cultural lifestyle; increased production, improving their incomes…towards a more beautiful and prosperous homeland.
