In 2011, Thanh Phuoc commune reached VND123mln in industrial production value and VND59bln in trade and services value while agricultural production value herein only achieved nearly VND20bln.
Although agricultural production has only brought the local people a small source of income, but up to 65% of the local households have had to depend on it. This is also a big concern of the local authority.
High hope on the inland river port
The whole commune now only has a company, so its industrial production value mainly depends on 22 brick-kilns.
Out of the 22 brick-kilns, there are 14 in the list of brick-kilns to be suspended from operation under the recent instruction of provincial People’s Committee. This will make the commune’s industrial production value considerably plunge.
Agricultural production is ineffective while industrial production is predicted on reduction. Hence, Thanh Phuoc now puts hope on the growth of the services sector.
The operation of Thanh Phuoc port will contribute to raising the value of the local services sector and help it account for a great proportion in the local economic structure.
On May 9, Thanh Phuoc port put its phase 1 into operation and now continues to build items of the phase 2. Its operation will help considerably change the face of Thanh Phuoc commune and contribute to promoting the local socio-economic development.
Along with Thanh Phuoc port, many main streets of DT747, 2B…will be also upgraded, making business activities between Thanh Phuoc and other localities get animated.
Other good sign is that the Khuc Lan Anh trading services-housing project has reached basic agreements between the local people and investor on site clearance and now prepares for construction…
