Delegates listen to presentations on digital transformation orientations and solutions for SMEs at a recent conference.

 An inevitable trend

In recent years, the global economy is gradually shifting from the traditional method, which contains spatial and geographical limitations, to the online cross-border approach. In particular, a major turning point stimulating the development of digital economy and digital transformation is the Covid-19 pandemic that has lasted until now. As recognizing this is a global and inevitable trend, ministries, branches and localities are motivating digital transformation in public sector, and at the same time supporting the business community to speed up digital transformation application into business management and operations.

In Binh Duong, after receiving the Prime Minister’s directive, Provincial Party Committee promptly issued Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU and Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 816/QD-UBND on the implementation of digital transformation plan in the province in 2021-2025 period, with orientation for 2030. Then provincial departments, branches and localities were assigned to develop a digital transformation plan for each branch and locality; and have a plan and roadmap to support units and business community to timely access and engage in this.

Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of Provincial Union of Science Technology Associations, said that after being assigned the task by Provincial People's Committee to consult a model of digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province, the Union has organized many seminars, surveyed the status of information technology application - digital transformation in the business community, especially SMEs. Thereby, promptly provide catalogs, solutions, connect and support the business community to access and engage in digital transformation.

At a recent regular meeting of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Minh, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, stressed that the digital transformation process is a global trend. He asked departments, localities, and pioneering firms to promptly develop digital transformation plans and solutions; make a breakthrough to develop the province into a civilized, modern and sustainable urban area.

Many orientations, solutions

At a conference on digital transformation recently hosted by Provincial Union of Science Technology Associations in collaboration with Departments of Industry and Trade, Department of Information and Communications, more than 100 guests, who are representatives of SMEs in the province, listened to presentations of famous experts and speakers on orientations and effective solutions to facilitate digital transformation. Accordingly, most topics presented at the conference were aimed at helping firms improve efficiency in business management and operations. Thereon, firms can reduce costs and increase profits with automatic, intelligent and effective applications.

Dr. Nguyen Truong Huy, Vice President of John von Neumann Institute, Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, a digital transformation consultant and lecturer, brought the right concepts, explanations about digital transformation, and appropriate approaches for SMEs to ensure efficiency and cost savings. Previously, Thai Hoang Tu, Director of Business Communication Joint Stock Company, also shared his experience on DOs and DONTs to business groups as approaching digital transformation.

With the great progress of information technology, many firms have completed research and launched solutions that are forecasted to create breakthroughs for firms to apply. Specifically, large enterprises, such as VNPT, Mobifone, Viettel..., offer solutions to help businesses improve capacity, efficiency in administration and operation, such as digital signature, electronic invoices, contract delivery software, specialized work monitoring, e-wallet, and online payment methods. The common point of these solutions is that specialized applications are developed to meet the needs and capabilities of SMEs, help businesses improve efficiency and grow better.

A remarkable presentation in this seminar is about "Application of virtual reality to increase customer experience" by Lam Thanh Hoang, Director of OneBIM Vietnam Company, Chairman of Vietnam BIM Community. Lam Thanh Hoang affirmed the application of virtual reality not only helps firms easily conquer customers and increase sales, but also helps consumers have the most comprehensive and complete view of a service or product through the online environment before deciding to order products and services.
