According to provincial Department of Industry and Trade, up to Jun 2017, some localities in the province have cleared 3 markets, renovated and upgraded 10 markets, built 19 new markets (of which 3 markets were added after planning). In addition, the province has 7 new supermarkets and 3 commercial centers. So far, there are 106 markets in the province, reaching 86.9%; 11 supermarkets, reaching 45.8% and 3 commercial centers, reaching 8.1% of the total number of markets, supermarkets, shopping centers under the planning towards 2020.
It is known that, on December 30, 2011, provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 4141/QD-UBND to approve master plan for the development of markets, supermarkets and retail centers in Binh Duong province towards 2020. The province will have 122 markets, 24 supermarkets and 37 shopping centers. Of which, the province will clear and relocate 7 markets; renovate and upgrade 30 markets; build 43 new markets, 14 supermarkets and 30 shopping centers.
