Thu Dau Mot City's total retail sales of goods and services increase by 12.2%

According to the draft statistics of Thu Dau Mot City People's Committee, over the first 6 months of 2020, despite of negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, purchasing power of the market decreased, the total retail sales of goods and services in Thu Dau Mot City grew, estimated at over 79,770 billion VND, up 12.2% over the same period last year, reaching 40.1% of the plan. In particular, the domestic economic sector is estimated at VND 79,760.6 billion, up 12.2% over the same period last year; FDI sector was estimated at VND 10.2 billion, up 13.7% over the same period last year.

In general, purchasing power at conventional markets and supermarkets increased significantly; commodity prices tended to increase slightly, because people bought up for reserve, but there was not scarcity of commodities, diverse types of goods, stable purchasing power, and supply of goods met the demand of consumers. Particularly for medical masks and hand sanitizers, there was limited supply during the Covid-19 pandemic, but so far it has been stabilized and guaranteed to serve the people.

Currently, functional industries and retail businesses are implementing solutions to stimulate demand, increase after-sales services, encourage consumers to accelerate the growth rate of sales and consumption by the end of 2020.
