Thuan An-based SMEs strengthen production expansion

Thuan An town’s economy now sees an equal development in all aspects. This is also one of the town’s advantages in investment attraction. Over the past years, the town-based small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) constantly developed in both quality and quality.

Attractive to SMEs  

Since 2012, there has been a rapid increase in the number of SMEs registering for establishment in Thuan An town. In 2011, the whole town absorbed 2,405 SMEs and the figure has so far amounted to 2,746 with the annual average growth of 14.18%. Their total registered capital in 2012 was estimated at more than 1.73trillion, up 63.61% compared to 2011. On average, each SME was developed with VND4.24bln.

There was also an sharp increase in the number of laborers herein over the past years. In 2011, the whole town was home to 19,767 laborers. The figure was 22,668 in 2012 with the annual average growth of 14.67%.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Son, General Director of Ngoc Son Python-Crocodile Trading Joint Stock Company in Binh Chuan ward, the company in 2013 reached a 10% growth compared to 2012. The company also poured additional 10% of total investment capital for production expansion. Currently, the company’s products made from python and crocodile skin (e.g. handbags, wallets, bells…) become favorites in the domestic market. The company has also just expanded its consumption market to Thailand.

“Along with the evolution of industrial parks, plazas and supermarkets, Thuan An town has so far absorbed a large number of foreign experts for living and working and the lives of the local people have also got better. This is one of advantages for town-based enterprises to expand production and promote hi-quality services projects at clients’ demand”, said Nguyen Thai Hoa, General Director of North Sai Gon International Joint Stock Company in An Phu ward.

Demand stimulation for development

Thuan An town has actively extended a plan on development of SMEs in the 2011 and 2015 period. Accordingly, many support programs and policies for SMEs have been implemented widely. Truong Cong Thach, Deputy Head of Thuan An town’s Division of Economics said that the town has focused on administrative procedure reform, contributing to creating favorable conditions for investors’ development.

Policies on tax exemption and reduction, demand stimulation packages and lending interest rate reduction in the current period along with Thuan An town’s implementation of industrial, agricultural and trade promotion and e-business development have offered more assistance to town-based enterprises for better development.

Thuan An town has also called for enterprises to get involved in fields of construction, trade and hi-quality services. Till now, the town has fulfilled a 1/2000 scale detail planning of all wards, creating favorable conditions for town-based enterprises to properly develop.

Nguyen Van Hanh, Director of Minh Hanh Electronics and Home Appliance Center said that thanks to the local government’s attention and assistance, Minh Hanh Electronics and Home Appliance Center is present in Thuan An town. Currently, its branch in An Phu ward operates very effectively.

Possibly speaking, SMEs greatly contributed to Thuan An town’s economic growth over the past time. To help them overcome obstacles, stabilize their production and business, the town has also taken measures, including considering and giving VAT tax exemption and reduction for inventory items; reasonably reducing corporate income tax; issuing support policies for long-term development; tightening control over market to prevent trade fraud; encouraging them to mutually use their products…

It is hoped that with all demand stimulation measures of Thuan An town plus the efforts by town-based enterprises, the town’s production and business activities in 2014 will get more thriving.
