In 2018, Thuan An town realized a pilot program on waste classification at source in Lai Thieu ward’s Nguyen Trai and Binh Hoa quarters with a total expense of VND757million.

The town also implemented a pilot model on “Quarters, hamlets without waste” in Lai Thieu ward’s Nguyen Trai quarter, Hung Dinh ward’s Hung Tho quarter, An Phu ward’s quarter 3, Binh Chuan ward’s Binh Quoi B quarter and Vinh Phu ward’s Hoa Long quarter with a total cost of VND185million. The model contributed to promoting the local civilized urban lifestyle construction program.
As planned, in 2019, the town’s People’s Committee will continue instructing functional agencies to strengthen dissemination of information about the significance of the model; carry out a pilot plan for the model at the headquarters of the People’s Committees of wards, communes, contributing to minimizing the amount of daily solid waste and building civilized urban lifestyle. The town’s functional agencies and localities will also disseminate the content of “cultural-civilized urban lifestyle” and uphold the effectiveness of models, namely “Self-management on environmental protection”, “Streets, alleys, quarters without waste” among the local authorities at all levels and people.
Raising public awareness
Over the past time, Thuan An town attached special importance to implementing a task of raising public awareness of environmental protection in a synchronous way with many meaningful activities, including disseminating the harmful effects of climate change and environmental pollution among people; building community awareness in the process of environmental protection…
Particularly, the town’s Youth Union launched “Voluntary Saturday”, “Green Sunday” programs with such practical activities as carrying out a youth work “For civilized city” in Hung Dinh ward, organizing the 3rd festival “Joining hands for a green city”, the 3-T campaign…
Do Thanh Su, Vice-Chairman of Thuan An town’s People’s Committee said that with the target of building up a locality with good living environment, harmony between economic growth and environmental protection, the town will set up its plan on environmental protection in each period with tasks concretized annually. The town will also map out a surveillance network on environmental quality, thereby putting forward solutions to prevent environmental pollution and improving the quality of the local environment.
In addition, the town will strengthen law dissemination on environmental protection, raising the local authorities at all levels and people’s awareness of protecting the environment, combating climate change; effectively control over activities on collecting, classifying and transporting the local daily solid waste…
