In the 2015-2020 tenure, Thuan An has set a program on urban development, upgrading it into a city under the control of the province and basically reached criteria of a second-class city for the 2019-2020 period. The city will further focus on mobilizing all resources for infrastructure investment meeting criteria of a first-class city, helping it become a civilized, prosperous and nice city in 2025.
Infrastructure investment
Since 2016, Thuan An city has mobilized all resources for socio-economic infrastructure development towards urbanization; effectively implemented regulations on urban architecture management to 2020, making the local urban image reach many obvious changes.

Thuan An city has got greener, cleaner and nicer
The city’s overall development plan is being adjusted in line with the local real situation. So far, the city has approved 59 detailed housing plans with 143.761 hectares, contributing to the local urban rejuvenation and housing development. The figure has brought the total number of detailed housing plans to 110 with a total area of 1,114.6 hectares.
The city has bent on urban technical infrastructure development with focus on building connected streets. Till now, the city has fulfilled and put streets, namely Thuan Giao 02, Thuan Giao 10, Hung Dinh 23, Hung Dinh 24, An Son 01, Binh Nham 82…, in to use. The city has put focus on constructing An Thanh resettlement area’s infrastructure facilities; upgraded Thuan Giao 25 street…while preparing for upgrading Dong Tu small shrine street, Chau Van Tiep street…In terms of inland waterway transport, provincial People’s Committee has approved an inland waterway port development plan on Saigon river. When being implemented, it will contribute to the development of ecotourism, goods transport of the locality and neighboring regions.
In addition, the city has attached special importance to water drainage, supply, environmental hygiene, public lighting…, contributing to reshaping the local urban image and improving the lives of locals. So far, there have been 19 out of 47 streets in the city with green trees. The city has also built 3 small and medium-sized parks with a total expense of VND1.53billion and prepared for construction of Lai Thieu park with 11,000 square meters; quarter 2’s park in An Phu ward with 4,500 square meters; park at Tan Thoi secondary school in Binh Nham ward with 2,248 square meters; An Phu park with 7,059 square meters. The city has also rejuvenated 9 pavement works with a total expense of VND35.27billion and is preparing for rejuvenation of 5 works with a total expense of VND27.4billion.
In terms of education, the city has fulfilled construction of 11 projects, including 2 preschools, 3 primary schools and 6 secondary schools. Since early 2016, the city has developed additional 17 private preschools. Regarding healthcare and culture, the city has focused on building cultural institutions under the local public investment plan for the 2016-2020 period; made investment in medical equipment at the local demand for public healthcare; set up a preventative health bloc with a total expense of VND 94.27billion, contributing to improving the quality of the local healthcare sector.
Breakthrough and pervasion
In the 2020-2025 period, Thuan An city will concentrate on urban development based on the principle of creating a motivation for socio-economic development, promoting the shift of the local economic structure towards industrialization and modernization; mobilize all resources to further build a modern and synchronous socio-economic infrastructure system.
The city will also prioritize public investment capital for major projects, ensuring State management in association with the roadmap of upgrading it into a first-class city…It is known that the city was recognized as a third-class city in 2017. The city also basically met criteria of a second-class city. In January, 2020, the 14th National Assembly Standing Committee promulgated the Decision No.857/NQ-UBTVQH14 on the establishment of Thuan An city under the control of Binh Duong province…
