Thuan An town’s market network satisfies people’s demand on shopping

Satisfying well shopping demand

Launching a planning on developing the network of market and supermarket, trade center for the period of 2011-2015 and orientation till 2020, network of traditional markets has been developed across Thuan An town, meeting well people’s demand on shopping. At present, Thuan An has had 26 licensed markets with the total area of over 68,295sqm. Of these, Bung and Lai Thieu markets have been managed by An Thanh and Lai Thieu wards People’s Committee, the remaining markets have been managed by private facilities.

Phan Tien Dat, official of Thuan An town Economic Division, said “100% of markets have been invested and built firmly and equipped with fire control system, parking lot area and many more. Overall, the markets’ operation has been stabilized and commodities at these markets have satisfied local people’s demand on shopping. Meanwhile, food hygiene condition at these markets has been ensured well. Small traders’ execution of regulations of food safety and price listing has been improved”.

Ho Quoc Tien, head of Lai Thieu market management board, said “Lai Thieu market including 900 stalls not only serves for local people but shoppers living in neighboring wards and communes. Especially, Lai Thieu market has had a farm produce area, running from 12 p.m till 6 a.m, specializing in supplying all kinds of vegetables and fruits with wholesale prices. In order to ensure food safety and hygiene, the market management board in cooperation with functional agencies often pays inspections to stalls. Moreover, small traders in this market have enjoyed loans from Sacombank to maintain their business”.

Thuan An has lured investors to invest in fields of market, supermarket and trade center. Material facilities have been focused, bringing order and stability for small traders’ business.

Management work spurred

With the development goal in conformity with overall planning on socio-economic development, Thuan An town has reinforced management work to bring business order, environmental hygiene and food safety and hygiene in attachment to high quality service.

To actively balance goods on the upcoming Tet, Thuan An town has mapped out a plan on arranging 328 stalls for small traders to trade commodities such as ornamental flowers, confectionary and many more, contributing to stabilize business in the locality on big holidays.

Additionally, local functional agencies have spurred inspections on food safety and hygiene and released unprompted markets as well as controlled business facilities closely.

According to Thuan An town overall planning on socio-economic development till 2020, local economic structure will be focused on service industry and strive to reach 69.46%, 30.32%, 0.22% in industry, service, agriculture, respectively by 2015 and 58.54%, 41.33%, 0.13% by 2020.

In the first nine months of this year, the total goods and service retail revenue in this locality reached VND15,705bil, an 18% increase compared with the same period last year.
