Thuan An town’s People’s Committee, on December 12, approved the local five-year socio-economic development plan from 2015 to 2020.
After five years of implementing the local plan on socio-economic development between 2010 and 2015, Thuan An town maintained economic growth with GDP growth rate of 12.75%/year. The GDP per capita was estimated at around VND74mln/year. The town’s industrial production value rose up 11.7%, trade-services up 21% and agriculture up 0.4%. There was a right shift in the local economic structure with respective proportions of 70.5%, 29.2% and 0.3% in industrial manufacture, trade-services and agriculture.
The town over the past five years continued paying attention to support policies for agricultural production. The town’s total spending for basic construction was also estimated at VND2,173trillion.
The main goals of the town under its five-year socio-economic development plan from 2015 to 2020 are to tap potentials and bring into full play all sources to promote sustainable and fast economic growth in association with well dealing with social issues and protecting the environment; develop the locality into an industrial, trade-services and tourist hub that is in line with the development of the province and the region; perfect socio-technical infrastructure and strive to become a third-class city by 2015.
