Abundant supply of goods
Thuan An city’s purchasing power rose up during the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2020. There was an abundant supply of Tet goods plus stability in prices at people’s for shopping.

The city’s Division of Economic also arranged 494 booths on Tet goods to serve people’s demand for shopping. The whole city is now home to 23 markets under the plan, 8 temporary markets, 5 supermarkets, 7 trade centers and 62 convenient stores, well meeting people’s demand for shopping…
The city’s total value of commodities stockpiled for Tet was VND52.8billion. Of the total figure, VND40billion came from supermarkets, convenient stores and VND12.8billion from 23 traditional markets. On this occasion, as many as 268 booths on Tet commodities were arranged on some streets of the wards, communes in the city to serve people’s demand for shopping. The city’s functional agencies also inspected and detected 22 cases relating to trade fraud with total fine of nearly VND188million.
Another opportunity for development
In January, 2020, the city coordinated with provincial Industrial Development and Trade Promotion Center to check and take over Kim Ngan establishment’s project on supporting the application of advanced machines and equipment in manufacturing mechanical products in Binh Hoa ward.
City-based supermarkets, trade centers, markets together with around 30,000 business households worked stably, well meeting the market’s demand. Also in January, the city granted 320 business registration certificates to households, individuals with total registered capital of VND62billion.
According to Huynh Thanh Chau, the owner of Kim Chau Gold Private Enterprise in Lai Thieu ward’s Cho quarter, people’s demand for gold products is surging when their lives are enhanced. Hence, the enterprise has frequently improved its product patterns for better competitiveness. On the last Tet holiday, especially on the God of Wealth Day, it lured a large number of clients. It is hoped that when consumption market is surging, enterprises will make more investment, contributing to promoting the local economy.
Nguyen Thanh Tam, Chairman of Thuan An city’s People’s Committee affirmed that upgrading Thuan An into a city is a great opportunity for the locality to change obviously. This will be a breakthrough for the local socio-economic development in general and urban rejuvenation in particular. He added that the city is expected to lure more resources for urban development, contributing to promoting the local development and raising the quality of people’s life.
