In 2018, Thuan An town has strived to reach more than VND213.2trillion in industrial production value, up 9% compared to the same period last year. In the first three months alone, the town’s industrial production value was estimated at VND49.45trillion, up 8% against the same period last year.
Over the past three months, town-based domestic enterprises’ industrial production value surged 8% while the figure at FDI ones grew by 7.9%. The town’s industries of food and beverage processing, garment, woodwork and metal gained growth in production value.
Among the 27 industries operating in the town, there are 9 with great proportion, comprising of food processing, 19%; beverage processing, 12%; woodwork processing, 14%; metal production, 13.4%...FDI enterprises’ industrial production value accounts for 69.4% of the town’s total industrial production value. In the structure of FDI enterprises’ industrial production value, there are 11 industries with great proportion, including food and beverage processing, 17%; electronics, 9.5%; chemicals, 13%; garment, 8.5%....
So far, town-based industrial parks (Ips) have been fully covered by investors. These investors have worked very stably, actively contributing to the local socio-economic development. In Q1, 2018, town-based Ips continued absorbing foreign investors. Some projects at these Ips have expanded their production-business activities. VSIP also lured additional 7 FDI projects with a total registered capital of US$61.2million together with 5 extra-ones with more than US$33.6million.
According to provincial leaders, the effective operation of the VSIP model over the past time affirmed its brand name. Hence, many localities nationwide have suggested relevant agencies to expand VSIPs.
Nguyen Thanh Trung, Deputy Head of provincial VSIP Management Board said that in Q2, 2018, the Management Board will instruct companies of the VSIP infrastructure development and investment to boost marketing, investment attraction; recheck and catch the capital increasing demand of projects being implemented, creating favorable conditions for them to expand production-business.
Currently, the town’s economy is shifted towards the growth of industry-trade-service-agriculture and ecotourism while focusing on spearhead industries, innovating technologies and cutting down product prices.
