To assist timber enterprises in Canadian market expansion

On June 7, the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with Trade Promotion Department (under Ministry of Industry and Trade) and Vietnam Trade in Canada held a workshop to guide and introduce the furniture and interior decoration market in Canada; issues of access to and application of regulations, standards and conditions into export of furniture and interior decoration products to Canada.

At the workshop, Danis Charest, a Canadian wood industry expert having 30-year experience, introduced the Canadian wood and furniture technology industry, furniture trends and market, the prospects and opportunities for cooperation of Vietnamese and Canadian enterprises through distribution channels and market approaches. Accordingly, Canada is the 11th largest furniture market in the world with a value of over 40 billion USD, also the 8th largest exporter of furniture in the world, with a strong commitment to green and sustainable development. This is an opportunity for businesses to cooperate with each other and grow. 

The BIFA representative also informed about difficulties of the wood industry in the current situation and trends that wood enterprises are follow to solve part of the current difficulties. BIFA looks forward to an assistance in finding supply sources of raw materials to replace some types of wood imported from Russia.

Representative of Vietnam Trade in Canada said that they would continue to inform businesses about market opportunities for the wood industry, anti-trade fraud investigations; actively find supply sources of alternative materials to overcome challenges of the current situation.
