Great potential
Recently, leaders of provinces and cities in the south-east region sat together to discuss, look for new directions to wake up, develop the tourism potential of each locality as well as the region. Tourism authority contended, lately the Covid-19 pandemic had influenced socio-economic activities, including tourism industry. In Vietnam, the pandemic has been well controlled, the recovery of travel activities is a concerning issue. This is the opportunity for the provinces to accelerate the domestic demand stimulus program, to work together to generate attractive tourist products, turn challenges into opportunities to develop tourism industry of the locality, the region and the country.
Six provinces and cities in the southeast, including: Ho Chi Minh, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh and Ba Ria-Vung Tau are localities that have great potential for tourism development. With advantages of geographical location, abundant and diversified natural resources humanities, comprehensive material facilities for tourism services, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has become the preferred destination of tourists. Trinh Hang, Director of Department of Culture-Sports and tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, said the province had 1,177 facilities, 153 tourist attractions, historic sites, craft villages, scenic spots. Dong Nai Province currently has 24 tourist zones, destinations, with many types of tourism, such as: sight-seeing, entertainment, ecology, sports, religion, culture... Nguyen Thi Mong Binh, deputy director of Department of Culture-Sport and Tourism of Dong Nai province, said in recent years, Dong Nai tourism industry has made positive changes with many products, new and attractive tourist attractions, the number of visitors and tourism revenue is increasing.
Nguyen Hong Thanh, director of Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism of Tay Ninh province, also said the goal of Tay Ninh is to develop religious tourism products, festivals, history, ecology, community culture, culinary culture, craft villages, and agricultural products to form a chain of tourism products.
Nguyen Thanh Phong, deputy director of Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province, said Binh Duong does not have advantages of natural resources like other provinces in the region, but Binh Duong still has the potential to develop tourism. These include reservoirs (Dau Tieng, Da Ban, Can Nom), and river systems, canals (Sai Gon, Dong Nai, Thi Tinh) create scenic river landscapes. Besides, the province has lush orchards; popular entertainment spots; ecological tourist attractions and historical, cultural, and festive monuments; traditional craft villages... forming the ability to develop a variety of tourism type to meet tourist's demand for sightseeing, leisure travel, and shopping in Binh Duong.
Binh Duong province perceives and takes advantage of the potential, has been developing various kinds of tourism products, such as: river tours; ecological tourism; traditional handicraft villages; heritage, religious tours; leisure travel; sports tourism; MICE travel... With the existing travel products, Mr. Phong said Binh Duong hoped to connect with important tourist centers, such as Ho Chi Minh City and provinces, cities in the southeast, Mekong Delta, or provinces of Central Highlands, coastal region of southern Vietnam... to be able to form tours, travel routes attracting more visitors to Binh Duong in the future.
To form inter-regional tourism products
The conference named "Developing products to stimulate tourism in the Southeast region" has recently held in Tay Ninh province. This was a valuable opportunity for provinces and cities in the region to introduce tourist destinations, new tourism products, demand stimulus policies to build up inter-regional products, contributing to attract tourists.
Previously, regional provinces and cities carried out surveys, assessment of potential products, and the construction of tourism stimulus policies for linking service providers with travel agencies. Thereby, to establish many attractive tourist routes, contributing to implementing the target of Southeastern tourism development, stimulating inland tourism demand.
At this seminar, 3 new lines of tourism products were announced that would be launched in the coming time, including routes: Ho Chi Minh-Tay Ninh-Binh Duong with the theme "New Green Day", "Conquering the Southeastern roof"; Ho Chi Minh-Binh Duong-Binh Phuoc with the theme "Eastern Red Land"; Ho Chi Minh-Dong Nai-Ba Ria Vung Tau with the theme "Beautiful Nature and Seas". The tours are mainly for 2 days 1 night package with a good price of 1,390,000 đ-1.490.000 VND/patch. It is important that the top travel businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and service providers in other provinces also signed cooperation agreements on tourism stimulating products. These are advantages creating opportunities for tourism development in provinces, cities of southeastern region in particular and the whole region in general in the coming time.
