 An optimistic trend

According to the evaluation of Phu Giao District People's Committee, industrial production condition in the whole district is relatively optimistic; the value of industrial production increased over the same period. Production value of the whole industrial production - handicraft in 2019 was estimated at VND3,764 billion, up 13.03% compared to 2018. New budget revenue in 2019 was estimated at nearly VND 300 billion, reaching 105% of the estimate.

From an agricultural district, Phu Giao programed for 5 industrial clusters (ICs) with a total area of nearly 300 hectares, thus attracting a large number of factories and workers to live and work here. Currently, Phase 1 of Tam Lap Industrial Complex is completing its infrastructure. It is expected that in the first quarter of 2021, Phase 2 would be executed to complete the construction items in the 1/500 program approved by Provincial People's Committee. Tam Lap 2 IC (over 52 hectares) and Phuoc Hoa IC (over 70 hectares) have approved investment policy. The remaining ICs, namely Tam Lap 3 (over 70 hectares) and Tam Lap 4 (nearly 51 hectares), are in procedure for adjustment and supplement to the planning to attract investment.

The whole district has nearly 500 enterprises, industrial and small scale industrial production establishments. Major industries such as agricultural processing, food, mining and mineral processing, manufacturing of construction materials etc. develop well, contributing significantly to local State budget. In 2019, the whole district had 65 new businesses established, with a total registered capital of over VND230 billion. The district has over 370 active enterprises with a total registered capital of over VND1,565 billion. Industrial production enterprises of the district developed stably; the demand for industrial products continued to increase, especially material for construction activities.

To Van Dat, Vice Chairman of Phu Giao District People's Committee, said that the policy to facilitate setting up ICs in the area was consistent with the provincial and district land use planning as well as meeting the industrial development requirements of the district. With the determination to make industrial production - small-scale industry and handicraft an important driving force, creating a breakthrough in socio-economic development, Phu Giao district has gathered resources to encourage these activities. In order to attract investors, the district leaders performed synchronous tasks, sped up the construction progress of IC infrastructure according to approved plan.

Synchronous infrastructure

The strengths of Phu Quoc District's infrastructure are the uniformity and completeness of electrical system, roads, schools and stations that meet local development requirements. Socio-economic infrastructure is invested and constructed synchronously, which priority given to transportation, urban, educational, medical and cultural institutions to serve the people. Medical and education system meet national standards. The district's main traffic system is constructed in BOT form that is very convenient for cargo circulation... The district has nearly 800 traffic routes with a total length of nearly 1,000 kilometers, of which 27/28 urban routes is asphalted concreted. Majority roads from the district center to communes were asphalted. In particular, DT741 street, after the expansion, becomes an external transport axis that connects districts of Binh Phuoc Province and Central Highlands with the center of Phu Giao.

In the year 2020, the district continues to strengthen infrastructure, electricity, road station, meeting the development requirements. Key projects are upgraded and expanded, like the District Medical center (120 sickbeds), building the road from Tam Lap bridge to Dong Phu, from Tam Lap Junction to North Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang avenue. Local government also worked with province-level agencies to accelerate the performance of key traffic works, such as the North Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang, Phu My-Dong Phu... These traffic works will create important advantages for the district in socio-economic growth in general, industrial production of the district in particular.

Mr. Dat said, in parallel with the mission of infrastructure construction, the district implemented the reform of administrative procedures in a simple, transparent and convenient direction. The district set up collaborative mechanisms between state management agencies to support enterprises in implementing investment projects and business activities after being licensed. On the other hand, the District enhances training for human resources to meet the requirements of businesses.

The good preparation in terms of infrastructure, planning, especially the province started to build North Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang avenue, are favorable conditions for industrial production of Phu Giao to grow stronger.
