In order to build up an important foundation for planning and development corresponding to the new situation, Binh Duong province has developed Binh Duong Smart City project with a Triple Helix model. This implementation has brought many accomplishments and meaningful contributions to the provincial economic growth, affirmed the brand name and reputation of Binh Duong and reached to international level.
Binh Duong New City World Trade Center's project is officially started in November 2019.
To create new motivation
To execute the Smart City project, since 2016, Binh Duong has gradually built high-quality transport infrastructure, connected industrial parks in the province with the Southern key economic region, creating a favorable and stable investment environment. With the geographical advantage of a central area in the region, Binh Duong is gradually strengthening its role in regional, inter-regional relationships, and international connectivity.
Aiming at the goal of creating new impetus on the development path of a smart, sustainable and faster integrated city in the globalization process, in November 2019, Provincial People's Committee announced the project of World Trade Center of Binh Duong New City (WTCA BDNC). With a strategic location in the new city, WTC BDNC plays a vital role to connect all aspects. The center is built on an area of 7 hectares and comprises a central station on Binh Duong - Suoi Tien Metro line that will connect to Ho Chi Minh City and the whole southern key economic region. This is an important transit point in the new city's public transport system.
In the immediate future, Binh Duong is working on a project to strengthen the capacity of public transport and bus rapid transit (BRT) connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Duong. Accordingly, the beginning and end terminals of the project are New Eastern bus station (Ho Chi Minh City) and Central Station in Binh Duong New City. It is expected that this BRT route would run along My Phuoc - Tan Van and Pham Ngoc Thach streets... Currently, Binh Duong is also studying smart logistics and smart transportation to create the best conditions for businesses and people.
To reach to international level
In 2018, Binh Duong smart region achieved Smart21 (one of the 21 cities with outstanding development strategies for smart city in the world). This proved that Binh Duong's steps on the road towards a smart city were effective, consistent with the common trend, elevating Binh Duong to a new position in the international arena. This event opened a new opportunity enabling Binh Duong to connect with more than 180 prosperous smart cities around the world. In addition, the province's efforts in building innovative scientific communities, smart urban areas, and high-tech service production economy have been initially supported by the world scientific community. Binh Duong was also been admitted to the World Technopolis Association (WTA) with 105 members from 47 countries. At the same time, the province was chosen to host the 20th WTA Asia anniversary in October 2018. This shows that Binh Duong is gradually forming an initial foundation to create new breakthroughs.
Furthermore, Binh Duong has continuously launched new programs for the smart city, made socio-economic breakthroughs, became an official member of World Trade Center Association (WTCA). Binh Duong continuously hosted a series of world-class events, such as Horasis Asia Meeting, Global Innovation Initiative Meeting, WTA Asia... created a big buzz and breakthroughs in investment attraction, cooperation to exchange international experience, contributing to the successful construction of Binh Duong Smart City.
* Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, asserted: Horasis Asia Meeting helped the province to find important modern solutions to reallocate the province's development resources more efficiently, and would be applied appropriately into provincial actual situation in the coming time. Horasis Asia Meeting contributed to provincial dynamic economic and ready for international integration; effectively serve the process of industrialization, modernization and realization of the development objective of Binh Duong to become a smart city, bringing a better life for the people.
