Recently, in the face of tremendous industrial development, rural industrial establishments in the province have eyed many changes. Despite its small proportion in the economy, its contribution to developmental process of Binh Duong Province is significant.
Statistically, 55 traditional handicraft villages and about 6,000 enterprises of rural industry are located in the province. Majority of them are of small scale and household businesses; thus, the purchase orders are of manual designs with low technological application.

Recently, due to troubling economy, increasing material value, and inaccessibility to loans, many enterprises of rural industry have even dissolved. However, many of them have overcome challenges to emerge with approved collective brands and maintenance of handicraft village.
According to Industrial Promotion Center of the province, the presentation of Decree No. 134/ND-CP of the government on encouraging rural industry which has been flourished in Binh Duong Province thanks to series of supporting programs, vocational training, and investments into equipment. Particularly in 2014, 16 products of rural industry have been praised as model products of the industry.
For the time to come, the Decision No. 1288 of Prime Minister dated August 1, 2014 on national industrial promotion program until 2020, the rural industry will be on stable development trend. The program projects general aims of mobilizing domestic and foreign forces to join up or support organizations and investing individuals to industrial and handicraft production as well as industrial promotion services to contribute to economic transition and creation of jobs, income leverage, social labor re-arrangement for construction of new rural area.
