To find sustainable directions for agricultural products

On 28 Dec, Provincial People's Committee held a conference to connect the supply and demand of agricultural and fruit products in Binh Duong province in 2018. The conference aimed to promote agricultural products and attract collectives and individuals to involve in sustainable production and consumption of agricultural products.

To promote the quality of local products

According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2018, Vietnam's agricultural-forestry-fishery exports reached over $ 30 billion. However, agricultural, forestry and fishery products were mainly raw exports, which did not fully utilized the advantages and potentials of this sector; did not met the goal "small quantity but large value". According to information from the 3rd Vietnam Farmers Forum, the contribution of agricultural products to the country's export value continuously increased and made impressive breakthroughs, especially for the first time, export value of vegetables exceeded crude oil. At this forum, delegates affirmed it was necessary to remove the weakest stage (supply - demand) in the Vietnamese agricultural value chain.

In Binh Duong, finding distribution channels for agricultural products, increasing the value of agricultural products, especially specialty fruits, is always an important goal of the province to stimulate the agricultural sector. Therefore, the province always pays attention to creating the best conditions for this field to develop. As a result, although agriculture currently accounts for only 3.74% of provincial economic structure, this sector brings about high economic value, contributing to the overall socio-economic achievements of the province.

In fact, high-tech applications in fruit production have been developed in many organizations and individuals in the province, mainly valuable plants such as melon, citrus trees, and banana. Many organizations and individuals strongly invested in intensive farming, automatic irrigation system, planting plants by hydroponic method, applying VietGAP production process, handling off-season flowering... to bring the highest productivity and product quality. Some effective models of high-tech application in crop production in the province are An Thai High-Tech Agricultural Park (Phu Giao) of U&I Agriculture Joint Stock Company, with 3 main crops are banana, citrus and melon trees. Products of this agricultural area have been exported to Japan, Korea, UAE, and Malaysia. In addition, the company also signed a contract to supply products to major supermarkets such as Saigon Co.op, Big C, Aeon, Lotte...

To facilitate market expansion

Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade, said the conference on connecting supply and demand of agricultural and fruit products in Binh Duong province in 2018 aimed to promote brand name of agricultural products and fruits in the province, creating conditions for the cultivation, supply of agricultural and fruit products in the area to meet and share experiences to improve productivity, product quality, competitiveness and meet demands for domestic consumption and export. The conference also helped agricultural producers to approach domestic and foreign distribution agencies and channels to form a stable and long-term chain of agricultural product consumption.

According to the organizers, this conference will bring together farmers, agricultural producers, distributors, retail groups, market researchers, scientists and businesses at home and abroad. Businesses participating in this conference must meet requirements of the organizers. Namely, organizations, who are producers and processors of agricultural products to participate in the conference, must have the capacity, use high technologies, and be able to supply high-quality products to domestic and foreign markets. Distributors attending the conference are potential organizations with conditions to consume agricultural products in stable and long term in the domestic and foreign markets. Organizations that are suppliers of raw materials, high and modern technologies for agricultural production, must be prestigious in this industry...

At this conference, those who directly make products will express their opinions as well as expect their high-quality products could come to many larger regions and markets to bring higher value to this sector. The organizing committee also created a forum for delegates of farms, cooperatives, businesses in cultivation, animal husbandry, production, processing, and distribution in agricultural sector, scientists, market researcher, and representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade to contribute ideas so that in the coming time, the market of agricultural and fruit products in Binh Duong in particular and other localities in the country in general would have new developments.
