The Spring 1975 General Offensive campaign, with its peak historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, successfully ended the anti-American resistance to save our country. This victory assembled many factors, in which how to master the revolutionary opportunity for victory was a vital factor. The lesson on taking the opportunity in the 1975 Spring victory was applied by Binh Duong Party, government and people into the construction of the hometown over 44 years.
During the anti-American resistance war, despite being in a hot battlefield, where was a fierce combat zone between us and the enemy; where the enemy built many solid military bases concentrating the most elite and aggressive forces with many modern and advanced weapons, the Party, Army and people of Thu Dau Mot - Binh Duong bravely fought, overcame difficulties, hardships, sacrificed themselves, won many glorious and heroic victories. Many places such as War Zone D, Triangle Iron, Thuan An Hoa, Phuoc Thanh, Dau Tieng, Bong Trang, Nha Do... have gone into books about glorious revolutionary struggle of the Party and the nation in the resistance war.
Taking advantage of opportunities to develop
The war is gone. Provincial Party Committee, authorities and people continued to uphold the tradition of solidarity, self-reliance, self-reliance, overcame war remains to gradually restore production, construction and economic development, stabilizing people's lives. In particular, since our Party launched the national Renovation in 1986, Binh Duong has focused on exploiting its potential and advantages for socio-economic development.
Industrial development as a breakthrough factor, creating a premise for the province to develop services - urban areas, Binh Duong province quickly planned for industrial park development and implemented the policy of calling for investments. With a favorable investment environment, complete infrastructure, and the attention of provincial leadership, Binh Duong quickly became one of the leading localities in attracting investment and industrial development.

At its separation in 1997, Binh Duong had 13 industrial parks with an area of more than 4,000 ha. Up to now, the province has planned 29 industrial parks with an area of over 12,700 ha, occupancy rate is over 80%, and 12 industrial clusters. Thanks to innovative thinking, strategic vision, dynamism, and creativity of provincial leaders, from a poor province, Binh Duong rose up and became the most dynamic industrial province.
2019 is the fourth year to implement the 10th Provincial Party Resolution, tenure 2015-2020. Right from the beginning of the year, the whole political system in the province has implemented drastically and synchronously solutions of socio-economic development, creating momentum to successfully fulfill objectives and tasks of this tenure. According to Provincial People's Committee, in the first quarter of 2019, the province's socio-economic areas continued to change favorably, namely industrial production index, export turnover, investment attraction... increased significantly compared with last year’s same period. However, according to forecasts, economic and political situation of the world and the region would still have potential complicated and unpredictable progresses, which would affect the domestic economy in general and the province in particular in the coming time.
With the identified advantages as well as difficulties and challenges, in the coming time, the Party Committee, government, and people of the province will continue to work together, determine to fulfill the objectives and tasks. Opportunities and challenges always go hand in hand, but with the resilient and indomitable tradition in resistance wars, the Party, army and people of Binh Duong will promote solidarity, seize opportunities to continue winning victories in the construction of the homeland; determine to create new achievements that make the province develop faster, more comprehensively and sustainably.
To dynamically take the lead
In 2018, Binh Duong's socio-economy continued to make good changes; 27/29 major socio-economic targets were completed and exceeded the plan. Gross provincial product (GRDP) in the last year increased by 8.68%; Per capita GRDP was VND 130.8 million. Besides, the province's economic structure shifted in the right direction, gradually increased the proportion of industrial production and services ... The province now has 36,379 domestic enterprises registered with a total registered capital of VND 296,989 billion. In addition, the province has 3,509 foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of 32.65 billion USD, is ranked third across the country after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
It can be seen that the great contribution to the development of Binh Duong in recent years came from industrial sector. This achievement was a breakthrough from the perspective of provincial Party, authorities and people to utilize our advantages and determine the right strategy.
Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, affirmed the valuable experiences that had been drawn from more than 30 years of innovation and 22 years of development would be a premise, a motivation for Binh Duong to overcome difficulties and challenges to continue to develop and achieve more great achievements in the future.
It can be said that 44 years after national liberation and 22 years after dynamic and creative development, Binh Duong today has been one of the development centers of the whole country, an important place to connect provinces and cities in the Southern key economic zone. Binh Duong today is developing strongly, becoming a modern industrial-urban center, and is starting a roadmap towards smart city.
At the 20th anniversary of Binh Duong province (separated from Song Be province) 1 Jan 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said, Binh Duong was an exemplary industrial city, promoting its economic strength based on productivity, quality and management innovation capacity of the authorities and business community in the province. It has the potential and must certainly become a unique model of Vietnam's developing and prosperous thinking as well as in ASEAN Economic Community.
According to the Prime Minister, this vision must go hand in hand with the mission set for the Party, government, business community, and people of Binh Duong province. One is to develop a pioneering, innovative industry based on a foundation of creativity, which has a spillover effect, inspires healthy competition to progress together among localities as well as throughout the development process of Binh Duong. Secondly, Binh Duong must constantly promote the role as a driving force of the whole region's economy, the Southeastern region in particular and the country in general to integrate deeply into the global production network, while also aiming to locate higher in the international value chain. Binh Duong will be the first smart city based on Triple Helix model.
The Prime Minister asked, in the industrialization, urbanization progress, Binh Duong should always build and protect a healthy living environment, uphold local values in integration and development, cultural identities, inherent qualities of the Southern people. "We must determine to build Binh Duong into a civilized, modern city, and a region-level city," said the Prime Minister.
