Hub of developing triangle
Tong hop Binh Duong Sea Port Customs Branch is located right on the blood route of National Highway No.1, adjoining 3 localities such as HCMC, Dong Nai and Binh Duong, making up a traffic chain between developing triangle with the Central highlands and the Southwestern provinces.
In terms of inner-provincial traffic, the sea port is considered as a hub of My Phuoc-Tan Van route that belongs to the prioritized list according to the PM’s Decision 06/2011/QD-TTg dated Jan. 24, 2011 on ratifying planning on transport traffic of the Southern key economic zone till 2020 and orientation 2030 with the scale of 6 lanes. This route will be opened in early 2014, helping link the sea port with the local Northern industrial parks and compounds such as My Phuoc, 1,2,3 and 4, VSIP II, Bau Bang, Rach Bap, Northwestern Cu Chi and industrial parks of provinces including Binh Phuoc, Long An and Tay Ninh. This route is designed to connect with the belt road No.4 where has the 4,200ha Binh Duong industry-urban-service complex.
As for waterway traffic, the sea port is located on T-junction of Dong Nai River and Sai Gon River as well as linked with Cai Mep international sea port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. With such advantaged geological position, the quantity of goods at the sea port has over the past 10 years increased significantly.
In the recent 5 years, the sea port has implemented import and export procedures for more than 730 businesses with the total turnover of over US$845mil, paying VND450bil per year to the budget.
From these important geological advantages, the provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Tran Thanh Liem said “Binh Duong welcomes the Finance Ministry’s decision on setting up Tong hop Binh Duong Sea Port Customs Branch. The sea port will business community reduce time and cost for transport import and export goods, contributing to curb overload of neighboring sea ports as well as facilitating local investment attraction”.
Making up an impetus for development
Tong hop Binh Duong Sea Port Customs Branch has been listed in the Vietnamese sea port system with the following characters: load of 5,000T, 3 lift-trucks with the capacity of 45 tons, the total area of 45,000sqm with the capacity of over 3,000 teus, a 15,000 meters cubic vegetable oil tank and many more.
Aside from warehouse system on the spot, the sea port has had neighboring warehouse chains located in Binh Duong port area. They include bonded warehouse and CFS ARECO warehouse with the area of nearly 170,000sqm, 50,000sqm Duc Khai bonded warehouse and ICD TBS warehouse.
Binh Duong Customs Department vice head Duong Hong Hanh said “Tong hop Binh Duong Sea Port Customs Branch’s establishment has marked a new development of the entire unit. This is the first time Binh Duong Customs has the international sea port, contributing to spur customs clearance of import and export goods for businesses across provinces of Dong Nai, Long An, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc and central highlands provinces as well as to reduce cost arising for businesses, curb traffic pressure and make premise for sustainable development of businesses and localities”.
