High growth continues
Over the first 6 months of 2019, industrial production value of Tan Uyen town was estimated to reach VND12,300 billion, up 12% compared to the same period last year, of which domestic economic sector reached VND4,050 billion, up 11 %; Foreign investment sector reached VND8,250 billion, up 12% compared to the same period last year. Electricity supply was stable, ensured production and consumption. 1,216 new galvanometers were installed, bringing the total number of active meters in the area to 47,622; rate of households using electricity reached 100%; commercial electricity output was estimated at 827.95 million kWh, up 15%; electricity saving was estimated to be 12.4 million kWh.
The total retail sale of consumer goods and services of the town was estimated to reach VND 5,300 billion, up 22% over the same period. Importantly, the commodity market in the town was stable, there was no speculation and hoarding, sudden price increases causing market instability. Goods and products in the area were diverse, met people needs; Prices of essential goods were relatively stable. The town also cooperated with Binh Duong Co.opmart Supermarket to implement price stabilization sales program at the 2nd Bach Dang Pomelo Festival - 2019, to meet the demands of rural people.
It can be seen that strong industrial development was a favorable condition for the town to develop trade and services. From the beginning of the year, the Town People's Committee has approved 40 establishments (an increase of 20 establishments), mainly were wood furniture processing, mechanics, construction materials..., and submitted to provincial People's Committee to arrange location for 16 enterprises (up 6 businesses compared to the same period last year).
Regarding foreign investment, in the first 6 months, 14 enterprises received new investment licenses of provincial People's Committee with a total registered capital of USD 72 million, an increase of USD 12.5 million compared to the same period last year. At present, 582 businesses have investment certificates, total registered capital of USD3,817.5 million; 390 enterprises are in operation, 165 enterprises are in construction process, or completing procedures.
In order to boost industrial production, many households in Tan Uyen town changed their business into trade - services. Le Van Trung, in Khanh Binh ward, said that his family had used to work in agricultural sector, but then opened a lodging house and a small business. At present, his family’s living standard is significantly improved. “Since the strong industrial growth in the area, majority locals switch to service and trade business. Currently, people’s lives here are raised, so everyone is very exhilarated”, Mr. Trung said.
To develop infrastructure commensurately
Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of Tan Uyen town People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the town continued to accelerate administrative reforms, improve the quality of administrative procedure handling in State management. The town continues to direct agencies and units to do well the control of administrative procedures, to study and shorten settlement time; maintain political security, social order and safety; continues to inspect and control the market, fight against smuggling, production and sale of counterfeit goods, poor-quality goods, banned goods and trade frauds; perform commercial civilization inspection at markets in the town...
At present, the Town People's Committee directs functional agencies to implement well the prevention of diseases on plants and animals; regularly check, monitor, and implement propagation and communication; promptly detect and control unsafe and infected food in the area, to ensure small businesses in the area to be aware of buying and selling food of clear origin, guarantee consumers' health.
Nguyen Thi Lanh, a small trader in Quang Vinh market, said she came to Binh Duong and became a citizen of the town more than 10 years ago. Thanks to propagation of all governmental levels, traders in the market were well abided by the guidelines and regulations, especially the awareness of people health protection was enhanced.
In the coming time, the town People's Committee will continue to speed up the progress of investment procedures, caryy out new start-up projects in 2019. Besides, the town strives to efficiently implement key projects such as Thai Hoa High School, roads of DH406, DH425, DH423, local General Hospital, Tan Uyen Bus Station, Funeral Home in the town ... The town also actively review and promptly handle difficulties and problems in the implementation of public investment plans; continue to build parks and greenery spaces in communes and wards ... All will create favorable conditions for local trade - services to rise up strongly.
