Traffic accomplishment promotes rural economic development

Convenient roads will help smooth trade of goods and promote socio-economic development. For cooperatives, especially agricultural ones, which are often located in remote areas, the hardening of traffic routes is a favorable condition for their operations. In the process of building a new countryside, cooperatives contribute funds with the locality to complete the roads.

The focus on investment in construction of transport infrastructure in localities has created favorable conditions to promote economic development. Traffic goes ahead

Previously, traveling to Tan Dinh commune of Bac Tan Uyen district was extremely hard in a large commune of rural traffic system of 162 routes, most of which were red dirt roads in the rainy season and dusty in the dry season, making production and business activities underdeveloped. Currently, the appearance of Tan Dinh commune has completely changed with spacious and wide rural roads to help people travel easily; agricultural products are purchased by traders to the farms.

Le Thi Hoai Thuong, Director of Dong Phat Trade and Service Cooperative, said: “Operating in the field of trade and services, the development of transport infrastructure is a condition for the cooperative to develop." Nguyen Huynh Thanh, Deputy Director of Hung Thuan Cooperative, said: “The cooperative produces citrus fruits, and agriculture is the main source of income for its members. In the past, inconvenient roads made it difficult to transport and purchase fruits. Now that the traffic is convenient, when the harvest season comes, traders can drive trucks to the farms to fix the deals."

Located in a remote area of Phu Giao district, Kim Long Hi-tech Agriculture Cooperative of Ca Na hamlet in An Binh commune is one of the typical cooperatives of the province on high technology application in production. In order to have success and a foothold in the market, in addition to the efforts of cooperative members, support from local authorities is needed. Nguyen Hong Quyet said: “In order to develop, infrastructure is a very important factor, bad traffic will incur costs and competitiveness will be less. As cooperatives want to develop high-tech agriculture associated with tourism, the construction of convenient roads will help attract tourists."

Join hands to build

Realizing that the benefits of rural transport construction are not only convenient for people to travel, but also a leverage to promote economic development, cooperatives and members have not hesitated to contribute to the local construction and completion of roads in various forms.

Nguyen Bao Toan, officer in charge of new rural areas in Tan Dinh commune, said that in contributing to the construction of rural roads, if the land of the cooperative or its members falls on the construction route, people are willing to land donation. In addition, cooperatives actively contribute funds to the local budget. In 2022, Tan Dinh commune was invested by the district to build an extension of Tan Dinh 52 branch 1 road belonging to Bang Lang hamlet and hamlet 3, people, businesses and cooperatives contribute funds for lighting installation. "During the construction of rural roads, my family did not hesitate to donate land both to the locality and helping the family's goods transport," said Nguyen Van Co, member Dong Thuan Phat Agricultural Cooperative of Thuong Tan commune in Bac Tan Uyen district confided.

In order to develop rural economy, currently, localities, especially remote districts, have focused on mobilizing various social resources to upgrade and complete transport infrastructure; thereon, creating connections between regions and shortening travel distances, in which the contribution of cooperatives and members is vital. Typically, Bac Tan Uyen district has a total of 1,100 commune roads with a total length of more than 666km. By 2022, the district has upgraded cement concrete and asphalt concrete for 124km; the rest was solidified by mixing crushed stone and red gravel to ensure convenient circulation of vehicles. In addition, the People's Committees of communes have invested in a number of rural traffic works on the basis of mobilizing businesses and people to contribute with the authority like donating land, assets on land, labor and materials.
