It is known that Tran Minh Dung, 35,
is now the owner of many pigeon-breeding farmsteads in Thuan An town with high
economic efficiency. Dung said that he got involved in this breeding model by
chance. Previously, he only bred chickens. But in 2000, under his uncle’s
instruction, he changed to breeding pigeons. He initially depended on his uncle
for buying 500 French pigeon eggs. Since then, he has had a passion for the
model of breeding pigeons. 
Tran Minh Dung and his pigeon farmstead
Although staring his business by bare hands, Dung has reached success with the model of breeding pigeons thanks to his constant efforts. He has so far developed many pigeon-breeding farmsteads in Phu Hoi quarter, Vinh Phu ward, Binh Chuan ward. Currently, he possesses more than 3,000 pairs of pigeons. According to him, each farmstead of 100 sq.m is around 1,000 pairs of pigeons, bringing an annual profit of VND80mln. With the current three farmsteads, he can secure an annual profit of more than VND200mln.
According to Dung, breeders need to spend around VND400mln for a 100 sq.m. farmstead of pigeons with sufficiency in terms of breeding animals and animal feed. One of the pigeon-breeding model’s advantages is to quickly take investment capital back and have very few risks in diseases.
Dung has just bought a new pigeon variety, Tytan, from Thailand. This is a kind of super-meat pigeon with the average weight of a pigeon estimated at between 600gram and 900gram when leaving cage. He now supplies various pigeons for meat to many restaurants in and out of the province, namely Din Ky, Phuong Nam…On average, each restaurant needs around 300 pairs of pigeons a month, so his breeding facility always lacks pigeons at the above great demand.
Dung affirmed that he and his family have been ready to guide breeders how to develop this breeding model with high economic efficiency.
