Upholding role of collective economy

According to provincial Steering Board of Collective Economic Development, in 2016, province-based cooperatives will attach special importance to enhancing their efficiency in production and business while step by step improving shortcomings in order to fulfill entrusted tasks.

Members’income on sharp increase

The whole province is now home to 460 cooperatives and cooperative groups with more than 62,000 members. Although only 36 cooperatives were recognized as good and moderately good ones last year or 40.91% of the year’s plan, most members stuck together to further promote the local collective economy.

The province’s collective economy is striving to uphold its role, greatly contributing to the local common development. In picture: A client making procedures to receive deposit interest at Thanh Tuyen People’s Credit Fund in Dau Tieng district

According to Pham Van Bong, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, most cooperatives and cooperative groups in the province are flexible in operation. Hence, collective economy made great contributions to the local hunger eradication and poverty reduction over the past years. The average income per capita in the collective economic sector was increasing with more than VND60mlm in 2015. The sector also actively got involved in social charity activities such as subscribing money to the Fund for the Poor, the Gratitude Fund, the Study Promotion Fund; building houses of compassion…

The current weak points of province-based cooperatives are spontaneousness, poor cooperation, small scale…According to provincial Steering Board of Collective Economic Development, the operational efficiency of cooperatives over the past years were not high with a lot of shortcomings in management…All need to be changed in 2016 for better results.

Soon removing obstacles

The province now pays more attention to collective economic sector via open policies. In the coming time, Steering Boards of Collective Economic Development at all levels of the province will advise executive committees of the Party hierarchy on setting collective economic development plans for 2016; simultaneously assign responsibility to each member in solving urgent issues of the sector; promote the development of cooperatives and cooperative groups in association with the new-style rural construction program.

For communes, wards and townships without cooperatives, the Steering Boards will strive to make propaganda and mobilization for establishment right in 2016 while widely multiplying some effective cooperatives. The province will also support cooperatives to more effectively work; guide them how to register for operation under the 2012 Law on Cooperative before July 1, 2016.

The province’s collective economic sector in 2016 is predicted to reach positive changes through a competition on new-style cooperatives launched by the Central Committee of Collective Economic Development. To

According to Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee who is also Head of the organizing board of the competition, the competition will disseminate the principles and values of cooperatives, contributing to promoting the local collective economic sector during the renewal and international integration period. Many effective cooperative models together with good initiatives in this sector will be also introduced at the competition.
