Vietnam has a jump in business optimism

Vietnam had a jump in business optimism in the first quarter of this year compared to the fourth quarter of last year, said Alan Dy, director of Grant Thornton Vietnam, the world’s leading accounting and consulting firm.

According to the Grant Thornton’s recent survey of 5,700 businesses from 39 economies, developed economies showed the most optimism regarding their business activities in the first quarter of this year. The survey also indicates that the economic gap between countries will narrow rapidly in the future.

Emerging economies such as Latin America continue to be highly optimistic about their economic prospects. Vietnam’s optimistic outlook jumped from 62 percent to 80 percent, ranking it seventh among the most optimistic countries in the global tally.

The survey also shows that 43 percent of Vietnamese businesses believe that the shortage of skilled workers will hinder growth this year. Ken Atkinson, general director of Grant Thornton Vietnam said that the shortage of skilled workers will have an impact on business trust in emerging economies and poses a real challenge for growth.
