The local people were pursuaded to support the program for they believed that the annual yield of latex would offer them much to settle down in the future. In the meantime, they have been earning from short-term crops planted among the young rubber trees.
Mr. Tran Van Du informed that by September 2012, the Company would start up tapping 700 hectares of rubber trees planted in 2007. Then, on-site processing factory would be built to improve production yields. The Company would also offer training courses to local tapping farmers.
It is expected that by 2013, the factory with capacity of 22,000 tons of latex a year at Bachieng District, Champasak Province shall open up opportunities for local people in Lao to earn more.
The program has contributed into poverty eradication by offering jobs to nearly 1,000 farmers locally.
The developing Dau Tieng Viet-Lao Rubber Joint Stock Company not only promotes economy in Lao, for Laos but also opens up culture exchanges in a tie friendly relationship of the two nations.
