According to building materials distributors, retailers and shops in TDM city and Tan Uyen district, building material products this year have seen a sharp decrease in term of purchasing power compared to the previous years. But, there is a great difference in the use of kinds of building materials.

Le Thi Loan, representative of Diep Lam building materials shop on Huynh Van Luy street in TDM city said that building material products have encountered a low consumption. This year, most customers have selected the domestic building material products…
Whilst, Nguyen Van Tuong, head of the Sales Department of Phu Viet Cuong Trading Co.Ltd. at No.676, Binh Duong Avenue said that 100% enameled tiles herein are made by domestic producers with brand names of Y My, Kim Phong, Dong Tam…In general, Vietnamese building material products have been favored by customers because they have beautiful designs, good quality and reasonable prices, especially in the current difficult context.
Thuy Long, owner of Ngoc Thanh building materials shop in Tan Uyen district’s Tan Phuoc Khanh township also said that most products at her shop are made by domestic producers. On average, her shop buys more than 2,000 bags of cement and 20 sets of bathtubs a day and all are made by domestic producers.
As a person getting involved in this industry for a long time, Thuy Linh assessed that despite having the same quality, domestic build material products are only half price compared to those imported from foreign countries. For example, a set of toilet accessories produced by a foreign venture costs more than VND2mln while a set of toilet accessories from domestic producers costs between VND700,000 and VND1mln.
She added that although having the same quality, enameled tiles of Vietnamese produces, namely Y My, Vitaly, Prime, Hoang Gia, Viglacera…are sold at prices lower three or four times than those imported from foreign countries.
Possibly speaking, Vietnamese building materials have been favored by customers. This is a good sign for domestic build materials producers. Like Mrs.Linh, most building materials enterprises hope that the domestic building materials market will see better signs for the rest of the year
