Customers selecting decorations for this year’s Christmas season
No increase in price
Province-based bookstores and gift shops are urgently preparing commodities for the 2012 Christmas season and the 2013 New Year.
According to a staff of Chau bookstore in TDM city’s Phu Cuong ward, decorations and gifts for this year’s Christmas season are very diversified. Most of them have no increase in price compared to the previous price. Particularly, a decoration line with the words “Merry Christmas” is sold at VND165,000; a reindeer costs VND33,000; a Santa Clause made of paper costs VND70,000…
Although the prices of decorations and gifts for this year’s Christmas season have not increased, but their purchasing power has seen reduction, due to economy facing difficulties.
The owner of Hue Nhung gift shop on Yersin street in TDM city’s Hiep Thanh ward said that the price of Christmas decorations and gifts this year have not increased in comparison with those of the previous year, but their purchasing power has been decreased because of customers’ saving.
Currently, Hue Nhung gift shop only sells 5 or 6 Christmas decorations per day, down by 4 compared to the previous year. The shop also predicts that there will be an increase regarding purchasing power in December.
Vietnamese products dominate market
As surveyed, Vietnamese made products have dominated the domestic Christmas market this year. The domestic market has also seen a lot of Christmas decorations and gifts from China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand…with two to threefold increase in price compared to Vietnamese made ones.
Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a resident in Tan Uyen district’s Tan Phuoc Khanh township said that she was estimated to spend VND1mln on buying decorations for her family’s pine during this Christmas season, but she decided to buy Vietnamese made products with eye-catching design and reasonable price, helping her family save VND500,000.
Whilst, the owner of Hue Minh gift shop on Yersin street in TDM city’s Hiep Thanh ward said that Vietnamese made decorations for this year’s Christmas season have become favorites of domestic customers, owning to having beautiful design and reasonable price…
