Workshop held on business development strategies in the integration context

On 20 Sep, Department of Industry and Trade held a workshop with the topic "Business development strategy in the context of world economic integration and Industry 4.0". Attending the workshop were leaders of departments, agencies, industry associations, representatives of businesses in the province.

Speakers make presentations at the seminar.

At the seminar, experts re-evaluated advantages and disadvantages of enterprises in the integration process and future development directions. According to experts, the successful signing of 13 bilateral and multilateral trade agreements has opened an opportunity for businesses to access new export markets and create a competitive advantage on tariffs when Vietnamese products are exported to countries participating in trade agreements.

However, in fact, after the agreements were signed and implemented, so far, there has not been a clear growth in exports. One of the reasons is that enterprises still depend heavily on imported raw materials, do not meet the requirements of goods origin to enjoy preferential tariffs. In addition, the attraction of investment in supporting industries is limited, not meeting the demand for raw materials for manufacturing and exporting.

Facing this situation, Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee assigned Department of Industry and Trade to collaborate with experts to develop the Project "Improving the proportion of localization, the content of technology and knowledge in key export industries and support services in Binh Duong Province until 2025, orientation towards 2030” according to Decision No. 2300/QD-UBND dated 17 Aug 2018 of Provincial People's Committee. The seminar aimed to gather comments from departments, experts, industry associations, and enterprises to formulate a realistic and highly effective project.
