On October 25, the Binh Duong provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a workshop on the role of microorganisms and natural enemies in organic agricultural production.
Speaking at the workshop, Le Thanh Tam - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that sustainable agriculture is developed through solutions to develop agriculture in the direction of organic, ecological agriculture, and application of production processes that are environmentally friendly along with landscape protection; input materials and resources are rationally and economically used without adversely affecting the environment and human health; natural laws are respected and followed to develop favorable and diversified agriculture in the inevitable development trend of agriculture. Currently, the production objects that apply the organic process in the province are still low, in which mainly focus was on fruit and vegetable crops with about 580 hectares, accounting for 4.7% of the total area of fruit and vegetable crops, of which 220 ha are certified, accounting for 1.8% of the fruit and vegetable production area.

The seminar was held to synthesize scientific and objective information on the effectiveness of the application of microorganisms and natural enemies in agricultural production; at the same time, creating a bridge for farms, enterprises and agricultural production cooperatives in the province to have conditions to exchange with experts and scientists. Along with that, the discussion of advantages, difficulties, challenges and recommendations were to help the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development firmly grasp the actual situation, thereby, extending specific and effective solutions for organic agricultural development in the near future.

At the workshop, the delegates shared important knowledge and skills in the application of microorganisms and natural enemies, the scientific and economic effectiveness of these solutions in agricultural production in general and organic agriculture in particular. The delegates also proposed many solutions to make the application of microorganisms and natural enemies more effective in the coming time.
