Establishing grassroot trade unions at enterprises - an essential deed
Developing grassroot trade unions at enterprises, especially non-state and foreign businesses is one of great programs spurred by the provincial Labor Union in a bid to take care, protect legitimate rights and interests of laborers. Gastronomy street was held on the occasion of the International Women's Day at Triumph Company.Focusing on building grassroot trade union Bui Thanh Nhan, vice chairman of the provincial Labor Union said that one of the highlighted activities of trade unions at all levels is to increase trade union organization in quantity and quality. Since the start of this year, all level trade unions have established 39 grassroot trade unions, admitted 22,550 unionists, lifting the total unionists up to 530,000 out of nearly 612,000 laborers. Of these, 1,965 non-state grassroot trade unions are home to about 486,000 unionists. From now till the end of this year, trade union at all levels will strive to set up 160 grassroot trade unions with 25,000 unionists. The above results are thanks to timely inspection of all-level trade unions at non-state enterprises. However, to complete better work on taking care and protecting laborers' legitimate rights and interests, establishment of grassroot trade unions must be cared. Nhan said that for importance of setting up grassroot trade unions, the provincial Labor Union should focus on developing grassroot trade unions. Specifically, till 2018 the union will strive to reach at least 75% of non-state units and companies setting up trade unions and will admit 100,000 new unionists with about 70% and over of unionists at foreign companies. In order to gain this goal, trade unions at all levels will must renovate approaching ways, contents and dissemination methods to mobilize laborers to join in trade union organization and set up grassroot trade unions. Improving quality of grassroot trade union's cadres Nhan added that to win efficiency of grassroot trade unions, it is important to improve quality and knowledge of grassroot trade unions' cadres. Therefore, trade unions at all levels should focus on building trade unions' skilled and trained cadres to meet requirement and task of the working class movement and operation of trade union organization in the industrialization and modernization and international integration. Accordingly, work on training, fostering trade unions' cadres is very crucial. According to the set goal, till 2018 there will be 90% of trade union cadres getting university degrees and 100% of grassroot trade union cadres under training on professional and skills. Specially, functional agencies will build and launch implementation of project of training and allocating trade union cadres at companies, accelerate training on legal knowledge, negotiation skill and dialogue for grassroot trade union staff for the grassroot trade union staff at non-state enterprises, concentrate on fostering on the spot for trade union staff at various teams and sections. In addition, they will spur assistance role of the legal consultancy center to help grassroot trade unions effectively implement functions of protecting laborers' legitimate rights and interests. In reality, units and businesses setting up trade unions with specialized and trained staff enjoy steady development. More than 300 scholarships given to workers' children
On May 11, the provincial Labor Union in cooperation with the Institution for Education and Research (IER) and Home Credit brand name of PPF Finance Company granted 325 scholarships each worth VND1mil to industrial park workers whose children are in kindergarten in the province. On this occasion, families enjoyed consultancies on measures of taking care of children in their life's first years. Friedrich Weiss (L), CEO of Home Credit Vietnam, hands scholarships to families.The scholarships are part of the “Blossoming Buds” program jointly organized by Home Credit Vietnam and IER with total funding of VND1 billion. The Blossoming Buds fund will give 1,000 scholarships to kindergarteners whose parents are working at industrial zones and export processing zones in HCMC, Binh Duong and Dong Nai.
