Today (April 21), Thu Dau Mot city Youth Union opens a training class themed "Span of knowledge" for young workers. This is a new model implemented in the whole of the province for the first time. In order to learn more about this class, Binh Duong Newspaper's reporter had an interview with Nguyen Van Sum, vice secretary of the city youth union cum chairman of the city youth union. Could you tell about purpose of organizing the class? Implementing the project of gathering young workers for the period of 2011-2015, the city youth union always wants to gather youths into an organization. Specifically, the union will set up many sub-societies and sub-unions for youths at lodging houses or businesses, especially non-state companies. I knew that Hoa Phu ward-based VSIP FMS company where gathered many young workers. Due to difficulties in life, these young workers are illiterate, so they face many obstacles in work and life. Therefore, the city youth union worked with Hoa Phu ward youth union and the company trade union to open an anti-illiterate class for the company young workers. Organizing the class themed "Span of knowledge" has many various purposes and significances. Firstly, to help businesses believe in youth union's operation, we must prove significant benefits of setting up the sub-unions for them and through this class, young workers can read, write and find out useful information for their life. After these young workers can read and write, we will suggest the company to instruct them how to use labor tools, labor protection equipments. As such, they can self-protect themselves in work, contributing to increase labor capacity for the company. In addition, improving awareness will help dissemination become more easier. We believe that this class' success will contribute to establish a youth sub-union at the company. Could you tell about steps of opening this class? It is expected that we will hold a class for 100 youths. However, owing to shortage of material facilities, the organization will divided into 2 phases, each 50 learners, lasting 6 months. This class will be organized at the company on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 19-21 p.m. Teachers of Hoa Phu primary school will teach them and youth volunteers will assist the class. Aside from universalizing knowledge for young workers, the city youth union will cooperate with clubs for legal dissemination to hold legal disseminations for them and simultaneously organize weekend playgrounds for young workers. How to expand this model, sir? If organization of this class at VSIP FMS Company gains successes, we will expand this model to other localities by 2 forms of opening the model at available youth sub-unions and organizing the anti-illiterate classes at companies where gather many illiterate ethnic laborers. What activities will the city youth union set out, aside from opening the "span of knowledge" class? This year's Month for Laborers, the city youth union will organize many useful activities for young workers such as the 2nd young workers sport festival, young workers' festival and so on. In addition, the city youth union inked the program of granting medical boxes for youth sub-unions in the early year. On this occasion, we will continue to mobilize club for young physicians to offer more medical boxes and medicines for young workers free of charge.
