A warm Spring In the Tet holiday 2014, Phung Thi Lan, the lonely old woman in the quarter 4, Hiep Thanh ward, Thu Dau Mot city enjoyed a happy Spring because her house was cleaned by youths and unionists of Hiep Thanh ward youth union. Lan, 86, has lived alone in a hi-unity house in the quarter 4 for many years after her husband passed away and her only daughter lived away from home. She has presently lived on subsidy and a modest amount of money granted by her daughter. Hiep Thanh ward youth union's youths and unionists joined hands to clean her house before Tet holiday and grant her a small gift package as the best wish to her on the traditional Tet holiday. In addition, the ward youth union paid a Tet gift visit to Nguyen Thi No in the same quarter. Meanwhile, Chanh Nghia ward youth union's youngsters paid a Tet gift visit to heroic mother Nguyen Thi Thao in the same ward. Implementing the program of "loved Spring" initiated by Thu Dau Mot city youth union, 14 youth unions under the city paid Tet gift visits to heroic mothers and privileged families. Especially, in this program, youths and unionists in cooperation with sub-societies for young workers and Club for young doctors co-held Tet gift and health check-up visits to privileged families, heroic mothers. A volunteer Spring Aside from bringing loved Spring to heroic mothers and privileged families, Thu Dau Mot city youths joined in the "volunteer Spring" program. Implementing the program, before Tet the youngsters launched a campaign to eliminate illegal advertisement boards, cooperated with functional agencies to mobilize people not to encroach pavements and road corridors, cleaned streets and martyrs' memorial steles. And these good deeds will be continued until ending of Lady Temple festival lasting from Feb. 8-15, 2014. In addition, the municipal youth union in cooperation with functional agencies will control traffic situation, keep order and security as well as offer essential information for tourists. Nguyen Van Sum, vice secretary of the city youth union said that the union held many other activities of music show, cooking contest for young workers.
