The most significant activity undertaken by trade unions at all levels in the province has been the organization of numerous programs aimed at supporting union members and workers. Over the past six months, nearly 300,000 union members and employees have benefited from various initiatives funded by the Trade Union organization in celebration of the Lunar New Year, with a total budget exceeding 327 billion VND. There were 650 programs and activities, such as "Reunion Tet - Sharing Spring" and "Union Tet Market," which attracted nearly 160,000 participants from among union members and employees.
Trade unions have also collaborated with employers and relevant leaders to arrange transportation for 20,228 union members and employees, helping them return home for Tet celebration. Additionally, the "Loving Tet" program was launched to support hundreds of the children of union members and employees who have lost their lives due to Covid-19, funded through social contributions.
During Workers' Month 2025, trade unions at all levels organized numerous practical activities to address the material and spiritual needs of union members and workers, particularly those facing hardships, occupational diseases, or work-related accidents. As a result, nearly 78,000 employees and workers were supported, with total assistance amounting to over 8.8 billion VND.
Currently, the Fund supporting workers in difficult circumstances continues to operate, providing aid to those with serious illnesses or fatalities due to accidents. In the past six months, this fund has visited 50 cases, disbursing a total of 466 million VND. To date, 1,404 employees and workers in particularly challenging situations have received assistance from the fund, amounting to over 13 billion VND in total.
During Workers' Month, several key programs were widely held, including "Creative Workers, Confidently Entering the New Era," "May Dialogue," "Thank Workers," and the forum "Party with Workers - Workers with the Party." These initiatives fostered solidarity between party members and workers alongside the Trade Union organization.
Ms. Le Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of Binh Duong Industrial Parks’ Trade Union, stated that in order to foster long-term commitment among union members and workers in Binh Duong province, the trade union has organized thousands of gift distributions and recreational activities over the past six months. These efforts aim to create a healthy environment for union members and workers, allowing them to enjoy shared moments, strengthen solidarity, and provide opportunities for employees to connect, make friends, and support one another both professionally and personally.
Focus on propaganda and development of union members
In the first six months of the year, trade unions at all levels have organized campaigns to disseminate the policies, laws, directives, and guidelines of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) to 818,131 union members and employees. They also encouraged 341,896 employees to participate in training programs to improve their qualifications and professional skills. The province currently has 1,822 grassroots trade unions in enterprises, which have organized activities for Workers' Month. Additionally, 50 new mass women's unions have been established, and 1,042 new initiatives, programs, and good practices have been recognized, generating hundreds of billions of VND in profits. The Provincial Labor Confederation has honored 75 organizations and 394 individuals who serve as exemplary "Excellent Workers" and "Creative Workers," with recognition and awards presented by trade unions at all levels.
The Provincial Labor Confederation aims to develop 70,610 trade union members and strives for most enterprises with 20 or more employees to establish grassroots trade union organizations. To achieve this goal, trade unions at all levels have proactively surveyed their areas, innovated propaganda methods, mobilized and admitted new members, and established grassroots unions.
To enhance trade union activities in the remaining months of 2025, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to reorganize and streamline the provincial trade union structure. They will focus on building a team of specialized trade union officials who are brave, intelligent, enthusiastic, responsible, trustworthy, and capable of effectively engaging with workers. The goal is to create a trade union organization that is open, flexible, and dynamic, ensuring that the legitimate needs and aspirations of union members and workers are promptly addressed. The Provincial Federation of Labor will also direct grassroots trade unions to collaborate with enterprises to hold dialogues and conferences for workers, improve the quality and quantity of collective labor agreements, and develop plans for activities that support union members and workers during the 2026 Lunar New Year.
Since the start of the year, 131 grassroots unions have been established, resulting in 30,722 new union members. The province now has a total of 4,108 grassroots trade unions with 818,164 union members out of a total of 878,517 laborers in organizations with trade unions. Of these, 3,482 grassroots trade unions operate in domestic and foreign enterprises, representing over 774,000 union members among 822,138 workers, which means that union membership in the enterprise sector stands at 83%. This is an important achievement for trade unions at all levels as they continue to focus on developing membership within enterprises. |
