Flappy Bird gives VN courage to conquer mobile game market
Vietnamese mobile game producers now feel more self-confident than ever in their ability to develop the domestic market because they have been encouraged by the success of Flappy Bird and School Cheater. Making mobile games – the reasonable way for Vietnamese What the Vietnamese game industry still lacks is the association which connects the idea men, producers and distributors.Developing mobile games was once believed to be the job undertaken only by the game firms on the low ebb which allowed the firms to make money quickly to exist while waiting for new opportunities. However, the success of Flappy Bird has changed the thought completely. Mobile game development should not be seen as a seasonal job, but it is a right way to follow. The success of School Cheater game later has, once again, helped game firms realize where they should go and what they should do. Analysts commented that Vietnamese are technically capable to make high quality games. A lot of Vietnamese firms have been outsourced by the world’s big game firms like Koei, Microsoft Game Studios. However, the lack of such an association would not be a serious problem when making mobile games, where one person can play many different roles. Nguyen Ha Dong, the developer of Flappy Bird, for example, undertook two of the three tasks. He was the man who had the idea of the game which fit the gamers’ taste. And he was also the programmer, who made the game within three days. The only thing he did not do was the distribution, because there are official distribution channels for Android and iOS. Bright prospect forecast for Vietnamese mobile game industry VTC Game has revealed that Tem Phep Thuat game (magic stamp) would be marketed soon. The game, developed by two Vietnamese from AVA Game, is now under the Alpha Test, while the error fixing is expected to be completed by the end of the month. VTC Game affirmed that it has been paying special attention to Vietnam-made mobile games, believing that Vietnamese can succeed if following that way. Chinese market surveys have all said that the Vietnamese Game Mobile Online (GMO) market would see a boom in 2014, according to Hoang Nhat Minh, Deputy Chief Representative of the Southern Office of VTC Game. “Vietnamese make GMO and Vietnamese play Vietnam-made games which can turn realistic,” Minh said. Of course, Vietnamese GMOs need many other conditions to succeed in the home market. “This would depend on the behaviors of studios, distributors, and the Vietnamese community,” he commented. It is obvious that Vietnamese have their original ideas attractive to customers. However, the ideas can also be developed if they are supported by the processors and issuers. If Vietnamese can cooperate well with each other, the GMO industry would take off. The international press has also predicted a bright future for Vietnam’s game industry after witnessing the success of Flappy Bird. The Chicago Tribune has quoted the director of a venture fund in HCM City as saying that the money from the Silicon Valley would flow into Vietnam. VietNamNet Bridge
