Seven pairs of trains to be added during Tet holiday 2011
Seven pairs of trains numbered from TN3/4 to TN11/12, SE9/10, and TN19/20 will be added to meet growing travel demand during the lunar new year (Tet holiday) 2011, reported the Vietnam Railway Corporation.
Central bank to leave exchange rate at present
The State Bank of Vietnam will not adjust the exchange rate or expand the trading band of the USD/VND, at least until the Lunar New Year, which falls in February next year. Chairman of the National Committee for Financial Supervision Le Duc Thuy made this statement at a press briefing on Nov. 4 amidst the unusual movement of the USD/VND exchange rate in the market in recent days.
Regional minimum salary for enterprises to be increased
In 2011, the regional minimum salary for labourers in domestic and foreign-invested enterprises will be increased, with the new minimum salary higher than the current level, between VND 100,000-370,000.
4 enterprises supported with capital to stabilizing market of upcoming Tet holiday
So as to stabilize market during Tet holiday of 2011 (year of the cat), Industry and Trade Department announced 4 enterprises to be supported with capital to store up goods in preparation. The enterprises are Hai Long Private Company, Vinatex Supermarket, Saigon Co.op Mart, and Citi Mart. The department also announced locations where enterprises will pour their products into to serve people in remote areas.
Over VND1.95bln spent on supporting farmers in economic development
More than 4,200 individuals and units subscribed over VND2bln to Phu Giao district’s Support Fund for Farmers over the past five years. The district’s Farmers’ Society also considered and provided over VND1.95bln in support to 451 local farmers; teamed with the district’s Bank for Social Policies to disburse more than VND34.4bln in loan for 2,634 local farmers to develop homebased business.
Total import-export value via local customs agency reaches US$14bln
As of late Oct.2010, total import-export value through provincial Customs Agency reached US$14bln, up 35% compared to the corresponding period of last year. Of the total figure, export turnover gained US$7.3bln, a year-on-year increase of 28% while import value achieved US$6.7bln, a year-on-year increase of 44%. The trade surplus was estimated at US$600mln.
