Le Van Hoang, vice-chairman of Di An district’s People’s Committee has just had a discussion with leaders of the district’s communes and township about visiting and donating gifts to policy beneficiaries and poor people on the Tet 2010. Accordingly, Di An district will spend VND652mln on presenting gifts worth between VND200,000 and VND400,000 each to 3,266 policy beneficiaries and poor people on the upcoming Tet.

Part 2: a big project for community

 

 

Binh Duong lacquer has long been famous for its a centuries-old traditional craft. Local craftsmen have shifted from pearl, shell inlaid lacquer to eggshell inlaid lacquer.

Provincial Red Cross Society expects to mobilize 15,000 gifts worth around VND3bln for poor people and Agent Orange (AO) victims on the upcoming Tet under the program of “Tet for the poor and AO victims”. This year, the society will also effectively carry out the “Each organization, each individual should stick to a humanitarian address” campaign; build and hand over 50 houses of compassion to the poor…

In 2009, provincial Farmers’ Societies at all levels mobilized their members to actively get involved in building the province’s rural infrastructure structure, including upgrading and clearing rural roads; dredging canals…As a result, they contributed 9,813 working days and more than VND5bln to working out more than 310 km of rural roads and more than 100 km of canals for irrigation

Nguyen Thanh Thuy, director of the provincial center for lonely old people, said the center is under improvement with a total capital of about VND3.6bil funded by Ong Quang Thong from Sieu Thanh Corp.

This year, most of local garment companies expect to give Tet bonus at a fair level to laborers. Nguyen Hong Anh, personnel director of Binh Duong Garment One-Member Co., said this year’s Tet bonus in the company will equal to last year’s with over VND2.2mil per person. Besides, the company supports transport fares for workers to help them reunite their relatives on Tet.

 

According to the provincial department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the province’s 50 businesses have so far announced Tet bonus 2010 for laborers.

Binh Duong expects to organize a get-together for overseas Vietnamese in late January, according to Le Phu Hoa, Deputy Director of provincial Foreign Affairs Department. More than 200 overseas Vietnamese will attend the get-together.
