In recent times, the program of “Accompanying Women in Border Areas” implemented effectively by the Women's Union of provincial Military Command, has conveyed the meaningful message of “Leave no woman behind”. The program has become a bridge of compassion, connecting hearts that turn towards border regions.
Joining hands to safeguard national border areas
“Accompanying Women in Border Areas” is a highly practical program that not only supports disadvantaged women in affirming themselves and improving their quality of life, but also plays an important role in contributing to the development of secure and stable border areas. With the motto of “giving a fishing rod rather than a fish”, the program has been implemented by the Women’s Union of provincial Military Command through various meaningful and practical activities such as supporting education, giving gifts to children with disabilities and poor-but –excellent ones…

We still remember a day at the end of 2024 when we visited the border guard officers stationed in Binh Phuoc province. Everyone was filled with excitement…The journey of over 150 kilometers felt much shorter thanks to the warm greetings, heartfelt handshakes and sincere conversations. Major Nguyen Ngoc Diep, from the Women’s Union of provincial Military Command shared that through the “Accompanying Women in Border Areas” program, the Women’s Union had carried out many meaningful and practical activities in recent times—caring for the lives of local people, supporting the poor in building homes and more. The program has served as a source of encouragement for women in border areas to overcome hardship, stabilize their lives and actively contribute to safeguarding the country’s territorial sovereignty and border security in the coming time.
Solidarity, intelligence, bravery, creativity…
Currently, the Party Committee of provincial Military Command has six grassroots-level Women’s Unions (first-level unions), with a total of 50 members. These days, the Women's Union of provincial Military Command is actively emulating under the theme of “Women of provincial Armed Forces: Dynamic, Creative, Building Strong Unions, Actively Participating in Party Building and Developing Comprehensive, Exemplary Units”.
Accordingly, the Women's Union of provincial Military Command strives to ensure that 100% of its organizations and members commit to and effectively implement at least one meaningful project, task or activity that contributes to fulfilling the political missions of their agencies and units, caring for the material and spiritual lives of women and children, creating a healthy living environment, promoting environmental protection activities, implementing social welfare policies, supporting military families, contributing to community development where units are stationed. Each officer and member strives to perform good deeds, meaningful actions and practical contributions.
Lieutenant Colonel Do Quoc Bao, Deputy Chief of Politics of provincial Military Command said:“In recent years, the Women's Union of provincial Military Command has continuously strived for comprehensive and solid development. Despite making up a very modest portion of provincial armed forces and holding diverse roles, all members demonstrate a high sense of organizational discipline, overcome all difficulties and always complete their tasks excellently”.
Specifically, women’s union activities and movements have been closely and effectively implemented. The unions consistently innovate their operational contents and methods to align with the realities of their units' missions and meet the aspirations of their members. Members have actively studied, thoroughly grasped resolutions and directives from higher levels, effectively participate in the emulation movement of “Military Women: Intelligent – Brave, Accomplishing Missions Well, Building Happy Families, Being Worthy of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers in the New Era” and engage in campaigns like “Building 5-No, 3-Clean Families” and “5-Have, 3-Clean Families”.
Affiliated grassroots unions have also coordinated with relevant units to organize numerous prominent activities such as visiting and presenting Tet gifts to disadvantaged women’s families; organizing programs like “Accompanying Women in Border Areas”, “Spring on the Border”, “God mothers – Love and Sharing”, “Connecting the Border – A Circle of Affection”; offering school supplies and scholarships for poor children and launching activities such as “Journey to Red Addresses”, “Support During Training Season” and “Full Moon Festive Night”…
Support for women’s economic development has received increasing attention. This has helped disadvantaged women access loans from the Ministry of National Defense, military regions and women’s savings funds to improve family income and living standards, enabling them to work with peace of mind and fulfill all assigned tasks.
Major Nguyen Ngoc Diep, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of the Operations Staff Division – Military Procuracy of Zone 73 stated that in order to achieve outstanding results in emulation movements, each collective, officer and member must strictly follow Party directives and resolutions, understand their units’ political tasks, higher-level directives and develop appropriate plans and methods for each phase. The Women’s Union has also constantly innovated its operational contents and methods to ensure diversity, appeal, solidarity, unity and effective performance of all assigned tasks.
The achievements in recent years have clearly reflected the efforts and determination of the women of provincial Military Command. These are indeed crucial motivations for women in the provincial armed forces to innovate and be more creative in the future, significantly contributing to the successful fulfillment of national defense and military tasks at the local level.
In 2024, the Women's Union of provincial Military Command cooperated to organize the program of “Accompanying Women in Border Areas” through meaningful and practical activities such as hosting the program of “Spring on the Border” in Loc Ninh district’s Loc Thanh commune in Binh Phuoc province; donating funds to repair the home of a member with particularly difficult circumstance; providing medical examinations, treatment, medicine and Tet gifts to 100 poor households; offering school supplies and scholarships to 20 poor-but- excellent children; giving 30 gifts for officers and soldiers of the Training Battalion under the Border Guard of Binh Phuoc province …with a total value of the gifts amounting to over VND 120 million. |
