As students embark on their summer vacation, it marks the commencement of cultural and artistic activities, physical training, and life skills sessions designed to provide enriching experiences. Parents can feel more confident knowing their children have access to beneficial environments that promote healthy and safe activities during their formative years.

Life skills development
In the initial days of this year’s summer vacation, numerous engaging cultural and artistic activities were organized across the province, establishing beneficial and secure environments for teenagers and children. From the summer opening ceremonies in various locales featuring a range of stimulating activities to children’s painting competitions and cultural playgrounds centered around literature, all events garnered enthusiastic and eager participation from the youth.
One of the activities organized during the summer for children and teenagers is life skills training sessions. The inaugural activities at the Summer Book Festival, recently held at the Provincial Library, included life skills training for children and teenagers. Additionally, under the guidance and instruction of personnel from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police, the children were imparted with essential knowledge regarding fire prevention and firefighting.
Through a form of propaganda that is accessible, comprehensible, and suitable for various age groups, along with specific examples drawn from real-life scenarios, propagandists capture the attention and engagement of children. To enhance their interaction, propagandists pose questions regarding knowledge, situational responses, and the propaganda topic, rewarding children with gifts for correct answers. Additionally, children receive direct guidance in practicing responses to potential situations that may arise during a fire in everyday life.
In participating in this thematic activity, Tran Nguyen Khanh Ngoc, an eighth-grade student at Phu My Secondary School, expressed that the knowledge and skills imparted by the police officers enhanced his understanding of the dangers posed by fires, as well as how to protect himself and assist others in the event of an incident.
The leader of Binh Duong provincial Library stated that for many years, one of the initiatives coordinated with the specialized departments of the Provincial Police during the mobile book service at schools has been the training of life skills for students. Leveraging their knowledge, expertise, and professional experience, police officers from the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, and the Traffic Police Teams from various districts and cities within the province have organized activities for students on several topics, including drug prevention in schools, accident and injury prevention, drowning prevention, traffic safety, and traffic culture.
These activities both propagate and guide, assisting students in recognizing signs, classifying inappropriate behavior, and managing dangerous situations. Simultaneously, they equip students with fundamental skills to defend themselves, prevent and resolve issues, and practice essential life skills, thereby contributing to functional sectors that promote the dissemination and education of law within schools.

Summer enjoyment and practicality
In addition to life skills activities, the Summer Book Festival features a variety of engaging events, including the display of books and newspapers to cater to children's reading interests, physical games with prizes, sand painting, and chess. The children participated in each activity with great enthusiasm and joy. Notably, in areas dedicated to books, such as the Children's Room and the display area in the library lobby, numerous students and parents enjoyed reading together. Although the service time has concluded, the allure of the books remains, allowing children and parents to take a moment to finish reading before departing.
To establish a vibrant and beneficial playground during the summer that encourages participation from children and teenagers, the Provincial Library hosted its inaugural Summer Book Festival in 2025. This festival is a component of a broader array of summer activities and aligns with the Month of Action for Children in 2025 at the Provincial Library. It serves as a valuable summer venue for children and teenagers, garnering significant interest from numerous parents. |
Ms. Vu Thi Nhu Trang arrived early at the Summer Book Festival from Ben Cat City with her two children, eager for them to engage in all the activities. She noted that since her children learned to read, she and her husband have gradually nurtured their reading skills. Encouragingly, as the children have grown, their enthusiasm for reading has increased. “At home, in addition to their parents fostering a love for reading by purchasing and sharing books, their grandfather is also an avid reader who frequently visits the city library to borrow books. Consequently, the children have developed a passion for reading, and when they heard their mother mention the Summer Book Festival, they enthusiastically agreed to participate,” Ms. Trang shared.
According to Ms. Trang, summer vacation serves as a period for children to unwind; therefore, parents should encourage their children to engage in play and partake in experiential activities to alleviate the stress accumulated during the school year. The Summer Book Festival, organized by the Provincial Library, provides a vibrant cultural environment. Here, children not only enjoy themselves but also learn how to navigate the library and develop effective reading skills, thereby fostering a lifelong reading habit from an early age.
Engaging summer activities have been occurring throughout the province for teenagers and children. These venues serve not only as recreational spaces but also as environments where children can enhance their physical abilities, cultivate their artistic talents, refine their skills, and acquire valuable knowledge, thereby enriching the vibrancy and diversity of their summer vacation experiences.
