"The role of youth in digital transformation and digital economy development" was the theme of the dialogue program between provincial leaders and youth, chaired by Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee last weekend. The program is not only a forum for listening, but also a catalyst for encouraging young people to actively participate in the comprehensive digital transformation process.
A core force in digital transformation
The dialogue program revolved around five main topics: developing digital skills for young people; supporting innovative startups; promoting e-commerce and the digital economy to contribute to building digital government and digital society; addressing current challenges…
In an enthusiastic atmosphere, many timely questions were raised, focusing on the core issues of digital transformation such as mechanisms, policies and training for volunteer youth to promote community digital transformation in line with the Resolution 57-NQ/TW; developing digital skills for youth; supporting innovative start-ups; promoting e-commerce and digital economy; contributing to the construction of digital government and society; addressing current difficulties, challenges and ensuring cybersecurity. Particularly, concerns were raised by young people about access to technology and the ability to adapt to the rapid changes of the digital economy.
Le Hong Quan, Pernament Vice Chairman of Thu Dau Mot city’s Young Pioneer Organization said: “At the dialogue, I would like to raise issues related to the mechanisms and policies for volunteer youth teams participating in community digital transformation to provincial leaders. In the context of digital technology development and innovation, Binh Duong province has established volunteer youth teams at various levels to take part in community digital transformation. These volunteer groups have guided and supported people and businesses in carrying out administrative procedures, using online public services and have formed community digital technology teams throughout the province. Therefore, the province has implemented any mechanisms, policies or training programs for this volunteer youth force to promote the community digital transformation process in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW”.
In response, a representative of provincial Department of Science and Technology said Binh Duong has implemented various mechanisms, policies and training programs on digital skills training…to support youth volunteers in promoting community digital transformation. Provincial Department of Science and Technology, along with educational institutions, has organized training courses on information technology, skills in using digital tools and applying technology in work; financial and infrastructure support. Through start-up support programs, the province has provided necessary resources for youth to implement digital transformation projects. With the digital volunteer program, the province has established 587 community digital technology teams with 3,540 members to support the community and guide people in using online public services and applying technology in daily life; implemented programs connecting youth with technology enterprises to gain experience and participate in real projects. These efforts have not only improved youth capabilities, but also contributed to promoting comprehensive digital transformation in the community across the province.
Participating in the dialogue, many young people also expressed interest in incentive policies supporting youth-founded start-ups in technology and digital content on blogs, YouTube, TikTok...to promote innovation and sustainable development. Additionally, they raised concerns about risks, online fraud, fake news, personal data breaches and the need for cybersecurity skills training.
Strong investment in digital infrastructure and workforce
In response to opinions from youth, leaders of provincial People’s Committee and relevant departments delivered key messages. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee emphasized: “The province will continue strongly investing in digital infrastructure to ensure the best conditions for youth to access technology such as high-speed telecommunications, internet systems and further develop digital start-up support centers. The province will study and implement financial support programs and start-up investment funds dedicated to youth to help them realize innovative ideas. The province will coordinate with enterprises and large technology corporations to implement digital skills training, career orientation and job opportunities for youth in IT, e-commerce and artificial intelligence; continue accelerating administrative reform and developing digital government to create a more favorable environment for youth to participate in economic and social activities…”.
The program did not stop at dialogue, but also served as motivation for youth to take action. Truong Anh Hoang, a student at Bau Bang High School excitedly shared: “This program helped the young generation of Binh Duong hear questions from brothers and sisters, Youth Union members and answers from provincial departments and agencies, thereby helping them prepare for a new era and gain a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of digital transformation. We also hope to have more opportunities to learn and participate in the province’s digital transformation projects”.
The dialogue program not only provided important information, but also demonstrated the special attention of provincial leaders to the younger generation. For the youth of Binh Duong, this was not just a forum to express opinions, but also an opportunity to realize their aspirations, contributing to promoting the local digital transformation process.
Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said: “Youth are the pioneering force in digital transformation and digital economy development. I hope that after this conference, each young person will continue learning, improving their skills and taking full advantage of technology to develop themselves and contribute to the society. I also hope that you will boldly propose initiatives, participate in start-up projects, connect and support each other to create a dynamic, creative and integrated youth community in Binh Duong…”.
